After seeing him inducted into the HoF and being mentioned a few times in the IGN top 50 wrestlers thread I've realised I've never seen a good Inoki match.
So please can you recommend some matches I can watch on youtube?
The only ones I've seen are the terrible Ali fight and a match against Regal that was massively disappointing (I hope that not all his matches are like that).

The match he has with Vader, where Vader debuted the gimmick, is something to watch because of how nuts it was (Inoki takes an enormous German suplex).

It's unheard of to have a gaijin go over your friggin top baby face in a debut. That match also caused a huge riot

I very much prefer the match they had years later in the Inoki retirement series, where I don't know hoe in the blue hell Inoki didn't die from that German. Also the moonsault. Also winning.
Also, check out his matches with Hogan. They were VERY good. Other than that, he shines the most in elimination tag matches and mat based matches, so find some of the first ones (there are a couple of GREAT ones) and check out some Inoki vs Fujinami.
Inoki vs Muta wasn't bad also, but nothing out of this world.

Also, watch him against Great Antonio if you ever want to see what happens when you no-sell the guy who signs your checks.

Also, watch him against Great Antonio if you ever want to see what happens when you no-sell the guy who signs your checks. Seconded. It's a great example of Inoki's chops as a legit fighter. This is the type of match every wrestling fan should watch at least once.

It struck me as not being about the Great Antonio no-selling, more that he had clubbed Inoki hard in the back of the head and neck several times with some very stiff strikes shortly beforehand, and Inoki had justifiably given him a good kicking. There are a couple of Inoki matches from the early 1970s floating around the net that are pretty great examples of excellent mat wrestling and chain wrestling; the first against the Destroyer during the dying years of the old JWA, and the other against Karl Gotch from the first NJPW card in 1972. They're both interesting snapshots of a particular era of puroresu, and I personally enjoyed them both.

Yeah I'm also recommending the 96 match against Vader, its pretty damn amazing, and it has this (Apologies for the massive gif, only one I could find) Although all the Inoki/Vader matches are great, there's one from 89-ish where Inoki just has enough of Vader and starts wailing on his arm with the timekeeper's hammer and its GREAT.

I have literally never seen Inoki have a bad match. I'm dead serious. I'm sure they're out there, but every time I have a half arsed attempt to look into his career, I only find good matches. I'm sure he's had multiple great matches with Hogan.

It wasn't as good as I had remembered it when I watched it recently. I only gave it four stars when I had it closer to five before. I loved the Inoki and Fujinami vs Choshu and Tenryu match from the Fukuoka dome. I gave that over four stars. Inoki was good but some of his retirement countdown matches were borderline unbelievable when he won. Inoki is known to let his ego get in the way.

The problem with Inoki was his best matches were in the 60's and 70's in the JWA and early NJPW and not as much footage of that is around compared to the 80's to current day.
