and the setlists so far on this tour have been INSANE. I haven't been this excited for a show in a long time.
They're playing songs on this tour that they've NEVER done live before.

I went to Moogfest last Friday night, they were playing at the same time as Squarepusher so I had to miss them... but my friends who did catch Primus 3D said it was great... said the 3D visuals weren't as good as you'd expect them to be, but the performance itself was out of this world. Have fun, I hate that I had to miss it... I'm just a huge Squarepusher fan.

I went a little over a year ago and Claypool flat out said that they would not be performing the "Beaver Song".
I declined to see them a few months later, where they ended up playing a double set, along with "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver". Ugh.

Of course, they are finally playing stuff from The Brown Album and they're not coming to Houston. Just my luck.

Show was 2 nights ago and it was awesome and then not so much. Just before the show there was some guy with his girlfriend who said "when the show starts, you have to yell 'You Suck!' it's their thing." No, it's "Primus Sucks," and don't say that either, the band has been tired of it for almost a decade.
Set I: Groundhog's Day (I've always been kind of eh on this song. I think it's too slow for an opener and they've done it at every show I've been to) Moron TV The Toys Go Winding Down (hasn't been played much on this tour so a nice surprise) Southbound Pachyderm Over the Falls (played the last time they came to town, would've been nice to see Hats Off instead) Lee Van Cleef The Heckler Duchess and the Proverbial Mind Spread (the setlist said "Fisticuffs" but they played this instead. I think I preferred hearing this one) Extinction Burst
During Intermission they showed 4 old Popeye cartoons. This was the part where the show got annoying for me. No one seemed to understand how an intermission works and everyone seemed to think the band would come back out immediately. Also I had to listen to "Annoying Drunk Girl" talk to some guy. Some of the highlights of their stupidity included:
"I wanna go see DMX. I know, I know. But I like a various genre of music"
"I bought tickets to Morrissey in Atlanta because that's the closest they're coming to here."
"That's why I teach middle school."
and the one thing the guy said "I was at Elvis Costello and there were these people in their 40s up front who were getting mad about people pushing to get up front and were trying to get them thrown out. Uh.....haven't you been to a concert in the last 20 years? That's how it works!"
no....it doesn't, not at an Elvis f***ing Costello show.
Also this was the point where it seemed like more people showed up because the floor seemed way more packed. It included some drunk guy just completely knocking into people to get up front (more on him in a minute)
Set II: Dirty Drowning Man (the drunk guy from earlier decided to try moshing by himself and managed to start 3 separate fights in as many minutes before being thrown out) Prelude to a Crawl The Last Salmon Man Hello Skinny American Life (I'm kinda over this song at this point. by this point I was trying to desperately get away from Annoying Drunk Girl because she kept talking through the entire set) Eternal Consumption Engine Jilly's on Smack Spegetti Western Bob (another fight breaks out, security comes in to only remove one guy for some reason even though the other 3-4 people seemed to be more aggressive. I took this chance to get off the floor and make my way to the back) My Name is Mud Jerry Was A Race Car Driver
Encore: HOINFODAMAN Too Many Puppies > Big Rock Candy Mountain > Too Many Puppies
Overall a good show that was slightly ruined by idiots in the crowd. Not as many "Primus Sucks" chants as the last time. Got to hear a bunch of songs I had never heard live before and I hope they come back again. It was 7 years between my first and second shows but only a year between show two and three. Hopefully it's more like a 2-3 year wait for the next one.
