Which parent do you think a child needs more?
I honestly can't decide, I was gearing towards a mother but a dad usually is considered, "the fun parent.".
It might depend on the gender of the child, but which one in your opinion?

well that is tough, in a way I'm tempted to say it depends on the sex of the child. Boys need fathers and vice versa. IF I had to choose

Really, they need them both. When they are tiny babies and all, Mom is probably the more important parent, but as they grow older, both parents become extremely important.

I'm a guy but I have to be realistic and choose mum because men can't breast feed.

Too be proper, you need the combo unit.
That's not to say you can't come from a broken/brokeish home and get the meat of those roles from grandma/uncle/family friend/whoever or whatever, but you need to pluck heart, drive and skill from somewhere or you're effing sunk.

Either, or.
Or in some cases, neither.
To try and quantify like this is both old fashioned and down right ridiculous.
As long as they have someone who is loving and caring for them, that is more than enough. Some archaic notion of 'needing' a mother more than a father, or vice versa, ignores hundreds of thousands, millions even, of perfectly fine single parent families, not to mention the growing number of same sex families.

I do know that early on mothers have a strong sense to recognize their own babies, which is a skill lacking in fathers. But as far as social development into functional adults, who knows.

A child needs one (at least) devoted and committed parent.
There are children who have been raised by single parents who have become university scholars and likely big earners in their careers, similarly there will have been kids raised by 2 parents who didnt give a damn and now that kid is 40 and scooping fries at McDonalds on weekends.
2 parents is the ideal, but as long as the parent/s give a damn, thats all that is needed.
