Couldn't sleep last night, so I caught an early morning airing of Spider-Man on TNT. Long story short, I didn't remember J. Jonah risking his life to protect Peter Parker. Goblin attacked the Bugle, looking for the "the guy who takes pictures of Spider-Man;" but rather than save his own skin and give up Peter, Jonah sat on his source, to the ire of Goblin.
Any other memorable good deeds you can remember from characters who aren't known for them?

I don't remember the context at all, but couldn't it be argued that he was attempting to protect Parker, due to the money the he generated with his pictures?

I don't even think JJ is a bad guy, he just really freaking hates Spider-man.

And even then, he doesn't hate him as much as he lets on, remember the deleted scene in Spider-Man 2 of him trying on the suit?

I don't even think JJ is a bad guy, he just really freaking hates Spider-man. Marvel seems to go back and forth, depending on the author, on JJJ. Sometimes he represents the worst of the yellow journalists willing to print anything to sell a newspaper. Sometimes he's the most ethical and incorruptible newsman on the planet who just has an issue with superheroes not revealing their identities. I remember a 90's storyline where he told off Stryfe who was trying to give him the real identities of every superhero on the planet for dodgy reasons. And I don't mean cowering in the corner making up lies like in the movie, I mean he practically told Stryfe to 'eff off.

In The Marvel Knights Spiderman comics. Vulture and Elctro ripping ten millions dollars off of The Owl to pay for cancer treatment for Vulture's grandson. Someone gave me a Marvel Knights Spiderman graphic novel as a gift and in it, The Owl was taking revenge on those two. Was this the reason why? I wasn't following the comics so I just enjoyed it as a self-contained story, but I didn't know why he was so concerned about trying to hurt them.
