...coming off a six week build to Hell in a Cell. Three-week build, for one of their "Big Four" PPV's.
HEH!?

Survivor Series doesn't really count as a Big Four PPV anymore, does it?
I mean The Rock came back last year, but apart from that, SS for the last couple of year has felt kind of flat.

WWE only has a Big 3 now. The Series is done.

This is usually when Survivor Series happens though.
HIAC threw things off a bit since I think.

Has the Survivor Series really meant anything since Team Austin vs. Team Bischoff?

I'm just glad they got rid of Bragging Rights, which was essentially an annual Survivor Series match, with the disadvantage/advantage of not actually being part of Survivor Series. This is bad enough, before we even bring the fact they were less than a month-to-month-ish apart into the equation.

They needed to do a PPV as close to Halloween as they could. Why? Because they just did, that's why. And maybe they should put Survivor Series back right on Thanksgiving. Thursday is the only other day they don't have wrestling on. Though I'm sure they moved it due to getting less buys when it's right on Thanksgiving, but I just have fond memories of turning it to that scrambled PPV channel Thanksigiving night and listening to the matches. It was really the only holiday PPV they had.

Series is still considered to be a Big 4 by WWE. But it's been the lowest on the totem pole for years now. To think it was the 2nd-biggest PPV in its beginning.

Not really. The only reason it seems that way is because the Money in the Bank is used to put new people (and Dolph Ziggler) in the main event scene. The last two MiTB PPVs had the Money in the Bank Ladder Match greatly overshadowed by a big dramatic angle, and the ladder matches came off as glorified filler.

Whenever they have more than 3 weeks to build to a PPV, they usually just put filler content in the extra week(s). It's like they're incapable of writing a story that spans any longer than 3 Raws and a PPV.

It was because there was originally going to be Vengeance on HIAC's date and HIAC on October 7th.

To play devil's advocate it's mostly a continuation of angles that have been going on for much longer than three weeks.

There is no big four any more. It's the big two. Rumble, and Mania. Summerslam is just another show.
