wrestlekingdom.jp/en/For those who don't know, Wrestle Kingdom is New Japan Pro Wrestling's Wrestlemania. And after the string of great PPVs recently, this event is probably going to be a must watch. Here's the card so far. 1. IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title - 3WAY Match: Prince Devitt © vs. Low Ki vs. Kota Ibushi 2. Special Singles Match: Togi Makabe vs. Katsuyori Shibata 3. IWGP Intercontinental Title: Shinsuke Nakamura © vs. Kazushi Sakuraba 4. IWGP Heavyweight Title: Hiroshi Tanahashi © vs. Kazuchika Okada Like every WK, there will be plenty more matches, with wrestlers from other promotions, like AJPW, NOAH, CMLL, and of course, DDT. I like how it's shaping up so far. You don't see Triple Threat matches happen very often in New Japan, but I trust that Low Ki, Ibushi, and Devitt won't disappoint. The Laughter7 matches (aka matches two and three) are going to be chaotic. Shibata and Sakuraba have been making their matches short and stiff, but they aren't up against rookies and well, Inoue. They are messing with Makabe and Swagsuke. The big leagues. And the main event has been nearly a year in the making. The tie-breaking title bout between Tanahashi and Okada. They've traded wins, and have run amok on the entire roster. Okada worked his ass off to not only win G1 Climax, NJPW's annual league-style tournament, but to keep this title shot until WK. But on January 4, the waiting ends. It's time to see if the New Generation has truly come, or if Tanahashi will reign supreme. And with Laughter7 (Shibata and Sakuraba) on the prowl, will the winner of this main event be the only thing stopping the former MMA-fighters from conquering New Japan Pro Wrestling? Personally, I can't wait. This is my Wrestlemania.

My cut on the four matches thus far:
**Devitt VS Ki VS Ibushi: These three have been facing eachother quite a bit as of late and now all against eachother, I think this will be a premier Jr. Heavyweight match, though I am worried about Ibushi's selling problems.
**Makabe VS Shibata: Now here's a match that's actually quite intresting to think about. Around the middle of the 00's, Shibata, Tanahashi and Nakamura were labelled as the "Next Three Musketeers" of being the guys to lead NJPW in the new milleinum...then Shibata quit and was gone from NJPW for about six years, and in his absence, guys like Makabe and Goto took his spot. As for the match, it'll be a pure, straight-up, no-frills brawl, and both are great brawlers.
**Nakamura VS Sakuraba: Even though Sakuraba is past his prime, he's still quite good, and Nakamura is the perfect opponent for him as he can do the shoot wrestling with him. This has some serious potential.
**Tanahashi VS Okada: Man, it's crazy to think how much Okada has improved since the last Wrestle Kingdom against YOSHI-HASHI to now. This will be a most worthy main event, and the one that cements Okada as the golden boy.
I'm also thinking Archer and Smith will defend the Tag Titles against Goto and Anderson, perhaps Romero and Koslov defend the Jr. Tag Titles against a CMLL team, I hope Funaki defends the AJPW Triple Crown against Nagata, and perhaps some NOAH involvement. And other stuff.

Predictions for what's been announced so far:
Devitt vs Ki vs Ibushi: Its hard to predict a winner other than the fans in this one. Ki didn't make it past his V1 against Devitt and all three have been trading the belt back and forth over the last year. I think Devitt wins here and starts a program with Taichi or another outsider. Perhaps someone like Hayato or Omega.
Makabe vs Shibata: The guy who was supposed to be the future vs the guy who took his place. I think New Japan are going to try to reestablish Shibata as a major player, and a win over the always game Togi Makabe would give him that boost as a dangerous player in New Japan going forward.
Nakamura vs Sakuraba: I'm thinking that Nakamura retains. Even though he's proven dangerous, Sakuraba isn't screwing around with Inoue any more, and I don't think his body at this stage in the game can take the punishment that Shinskee can dish out. I think a Nakamura win here sets up Nakamura vs Shibata in the future.
Tanahashi vs Okada: Okada picked the biggest stage that New Japan has to offer for a reason. Even though he's held the IWGP heayweight title once in his fairly short career, Okada is going to use Wrestle Kingdom to usher in his era of Chaos, and establish himself permanently as the present of New Japan, and the next great main event superstar of the company. Okada will be your new IWGP heavyweight champion for the second time.

Didn't Sakuraba challenge Tanahashi? No, Nakamura called out Sakuraba after his IC title defense against Anderson at the last iPPV. It was pretty much a given that the Tanahashi/Takahashi winner would be facing Okada at Wrestle Kingdom.

as someone who never really watches or has any exposure to japanese wrestling i always try and watch the Jan 4 shows because they are truely entertaining and engrossing even though i know nothing about most of the talent involved
and yes i only know of the Jan 4 shows because of the TNA International Impact when they sent talent over a few years ago

It was back in August when New Japan made their iPPV available internationally. It goes live at midnight our time buy you can watch it for about a week afterwards. They cost $25. Personally, I think they're worth it, much more so than a $40+ WWE pay per view.

I've never seen a Puro show live, I think it'd be interesting.

It's shaping up to be a great card. I'm curious as to how Mutoh and Hashimoto will be booked? Singles match against each other? Separate singles matches with other opponents? Tag match? I'm also hoping Funaki and Akiyama get booked in some fashion.

I'm also hoping Funaki and Akiyama get booked in some fashion. On another board, it was suggested that Hashimoto and Mutoh face TenKoji, and I don't think that's too shabby of an idea. Some other potential matches I see happening: Muscle Orchestra (Nakanishi/Strong Man) vs. Yano/Iizuka Killer Elite Squad (Archer/DBS Jr.) vs. Goto/Anderson for the IWGP tag team titles Some sort of 8 man tag with Nagata and Suzuki as captains. I'm thinking Nagata, Mochizuki, Taguchi, and another heavy, either Inoue or Captain New Japan vs Suzuki, Mashimo, Taichi, Michinoku. Can't think of what the potential Triple Crown or GHC Heavyweight title match would be
