Anderson? I mean, I like the guy, and at least you didn't say someone like Goto or Makabe, but really? I'd rather wait for Naito. Naito's going to get his run eventually if he can stay healthy. They look at Naito basically as Future Mutoh. Its not a matter of if, but when. I'm thinking Anderson after his incredible string of matches with Okada and Nakamura. I see Anderson getting past Okada finally and then challenging for and winning the heavyweight title. If not Anderson, I do see it being Makabe. Makabe's been booked pretty strong ever since his IWGP championship reign and just put down the guy who was supposed to be on the same level as Tanahashi and Nakamura as a member of the "New 3 Musketeers". Whoever it is, there's not going to be a random title change. Whoever wins it will be built up strong. I think Anderson and Makabe have the easiest builds to get there. I'm also going to make another prediction. Okada decides to go after the IC title and the Chaos split finally goes down between Okada and Nakamura.

The rumour is that Tanahashi wants his next title defence on February 10th to be against Anderson to avenge his G1 Climax loss to him.

I'm totally watching most of the uppercard again.
From Nagata/Suzuki up.
LOL @ Low Ki wrestling in a three piece. If anything is going to get people to notice the Junior Division again, that might be it.

Dave Meltzer says that this was better than the best WrestleMania. That is a powerful thing to say.

Dave Meltzer says that this was better than the best WrestleMania. That is a powerful thing to say. Glad to see Meltzer going back to his Japanophile roots. My problem with this comparison that Wrestlemania is more about the spectacle & drama and less about the wrestling. How does it compare to old Tokyo Dome shows is my question?

He said this was as good as the Tokyo Dome shows he went to in the 90s, if not better. He even compared them to the great All Japan Women shows of the early 90s.
In other news, Tokyo Sports are claiming that Takaaki Kidani is to resign as president of New Japan, although there is belief that this may be storyline, given his involvement with Sakuraba and Shibata, even being a cornerman for Sakuraba yesterday.

Metzler probably doesn't remember Battle Formation 96

Metzler probably doesn't remember Battle Formation 96 That was the one with Hashimoto vs Takada, Sasuke winning his only Jr title from Liger, Savage vs Tenzan, and Muta vs Shinzaki, right?

I cannot believe how much both David Hart Smith and Lance Archer have improved just over the last year, Smith especially. He's got an insane amount of ring presence that he never had in the WWE, even if his tights and build make him look uncannily like Doug Williams. Also, KES, those masks in the entrance have to go. Also also, Ow.

The last Boma Ye in Nakamura/Sakuraba was vicious too. Not only did he deck Saku with it, but his shin landed on his face.
And yes, all those matches were on Battle Formation 96. That's about as stacked of a card that you can ever get.

This was AWESOME! It reminded me of Battle Formation '96.
Favorite matches: Nagata/Suzuki Sakuraba/Nakamura Okada/Tanahashi

For those who have seen the show, how did Tanahashi/Okada compare to their previous matches?

I have it second out of their three, with June 2012 being their best one.
