Last night, during the Ryback/Maddox squash, we saw Ryback add a new move to his set: the running powerslam, and a pretty good one, for that matter. Thing is, that now gives him at least four standard moves that look better than his finishing move, including the repeat powerbomb, the big boot, and the signature "Meathook" lariat.
Add to that the Over-the-Shoulder Boulder Holder used as Skip Sheffield, a devastating, one-time-only spear, and using the jackhammer and F5 in OVW, there's no reason his official finisher should be a move as unreliable as his current finisher, is there?

Yeah he really needs to change his current finish. The actual impact of the move just looks so weak, it's almost a delayed Samoa drop.
I see nothing wrong with using the "Meathook" lariat as I've always thought that was bad-ass.

Should be his spear. It looks better than anything else he does and its not like Edge is going to be using it any time soon

That said, I love a devastating spear and someone eventually has to take it on from Edge/Goldberg so why not

..... A fireman's carry beat the WWE champion last night. A running samoan drop is fine.

I still don't like the way he always has to jump over the body to face the camera for the pin.

I see nothing wrong with the finisher and love his move set. It is essentially a ryback throwing you down on the mat with all his might and weight pressing down at the same time. There is probably like 1000 PSI of pressure each time he does it.

I know the jackhammer was technically his finisher, but I always saw the spear as goldbergs first finisher rather than a signature. He did it so well, and most people were dead after it. So the way I see it, the meat hook lariat kills them and then the shell shock is like the icing on the cake.

The problem is, it's one of the least impactful moves in his arsenal. I recall one poster in a previous thread noting the fact that it looks like a transitional move, and they're right.

It should be the lariat. But I enjoy great wrestling lariats way too much.

I don't think they would take an existing move he has and "up" it to his finisher. If anything they should give him something else as they sell him expanding and growing as a superstar.

I agree with those who prefer the meat hook. I thought he got it over pretty well during Nexus. The Shellshock is ok. It's not bad. It just doesn't have the impact of the Meat Hook. In the end, it's basically a Samoan Drop.

Wait, are people complaining that he can do decent wrestling moves? And didn't he do a running powerslam to end a match with Tensai some weeks ago, when he botched his finisher?

Why not up it to his finisher? Wasn't the Brogue Kick a set up move originally?

Why not up it to his finisher? Wasn't the Brogue Kick a set up move originally? Ask Jamie Knoble. It set him up for the Powerbomb of Death on the floor.

Sheamus had this same situation a few months back. Like him, I guess they're kind of testing the water before deciding which one to go with.
