I doubt they'll become big stars. Star Wars, as a brand, is the selling point rather than the new actors or their characters. In the same sense Hayden Christensen never became a huge star. That doesn't mean they won't have successful careers though in the sense of working consistently. Yeah, but he was not that good of an actor.

He was. He just had nothing to work with. The only reason he suffered the most is because Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor were already established.

It wasn't as though he showed much better in his other movies either. Ridley and Boyega are being praised for their performances and will likely be able to get more roles from these movies. Star Wars is the draw, but they are getting proper attention on themselves.

Hayden Christensen isn't a great actor. His performances in Star Wars were horrible, and the other movies that I've seen him in weren't much better.

To be fair/honest, Hamil was never a big star beyond Luke in the mainstream.
Don't get me wrong, he's had a FANTASTIC career just based on his voice work alone, but out of all the original cast Harrison Ford is the only one that became a megastar beyond Star Wars.
Well, him and James Earl Jones, but you know what I mean.

Cushing had a great career pre Star Wars certainly. Wasn't all his Hammer work well before that?
I mean Guiness was an Oscar winner as well, but it was well before meeting his fate as Obi-wan

I just read recently that Peter Cushing wore comfy slippers in any shot where his feet weren't visible because his costume boots were uncomfortable. So Alderaan was blown up by a man wearing comfy slippers.

I knew Boyega was the shit based on Attack The Block, and Oscar Isaac's been beast modeing for a while now. A Most Violent Year, Inside Llewyn Davis, Show Me A Hero, he's amazing in all three of those.
Ridley killed it in her debut, but the other two have an advantage because they already have credentials that help them avoid the "Star Wars Actor" label too badly.

Good grief that was Daisy Ridley's first movie?!??! What a frickin' debut (in that her performance was A+ gold, moreso than the Star Wars thing). But I think it can be done more tastefully than the golden bikini, especially considering it is 2015 and a Disney franchise now. As long as it makes sense to the story and it is not to pervogative then I think it should be allowed No way. Even with context (which Leia's outfit did have), that social movement has turned Disney against even marketing Slave Leia stuff. (Just typing that name probably threw up several red flags out there and have doomed me for bloody execution). Rey will have a more aesthetically sensitive & gender respectable outfit on at all times, or else womens rights and what not. Good. Seriously. Honestly, the glorification of the Slave Leia stuff is and has been creepy for a good while now. I don't think it's the fault of "those durn feminists" that Disney is de-emphasizing it, it's just decency and common sense.

I dunno, Slave Leia outfit is hot, and I don't really see women who choose to wear it as cosplay or whatever if they like it is inherently creepy or anti-feminist.
Would depend on context really.

Maybe not *inherently* creepy, if any girl or guy wants to cosplay as Slave Leia I'm fine with it. But I do get why Disney would want to shy away from the whole thing, and I certainly don't see their decision as a symptom of "PC run amok" or anything like that.

In this case, I'd prefer they avoid the whole thing entirely. I don't know, maybe it's because it's been done to death in so many different franchises, but I'm pleasantly surprised when a story avoids the "Female character appears in revealing outfit for no reason" thing, or any other blatant attempts to sexualize the character. A female character does not need to have a moment of objectification. Goodness knows most male characters don't really have that happen, either. I like the direction they've gone with Rey. She kicks butt, she saves the day, and she just so happens to be a woman. I'd like there to be more female leads like that, and I'd hate to see a promising character get tarnished in the name of cheap fanservice.

Attractive girl cosplayers - who enjoy it and show up at comic cons on their own. People complain about the action figures, but........how many of those have there been? 2, maybe 3, since 1999?
