Is anyone else mildly surprised that "Rogue One" is due to be released in about 10 months and we haven't even had a hint that a teaser trailer is approaching anytime soon? These days, big blockbuster movies usually have a teaser released a year in advance, a more formal trailer about six months out, then a complete in-depth trailer with about two months before release. It's not like this is "10 Cloverfield Lane", nobody's going to be caught by surprise by it. I'm genuinely surprised at how quiet everyone has been about promoting "Rogue One".

I don't know, I reckon we'll get a trailer about April, maybe a first look on the Blu Ray of The Force Awakens & then a trailer with Civil War

They may be quiet about it due to the possibility that Rey's mother is in it. So they're keeping mum about it till the Force Awakens Blu Ray. Also they can attach it to Civil War, and have the debut of a Star Wars trailer added to the massive buzz for Civil War.

When Cinema Sins do their 'Everything Wrong With' video for this film I hope when they do the audio swap bit they put in Tim from Spaced ranting at the kid buying a Jar Jar doll when Rey is selling salvage.

I dunno, Slave Leia outfit is hot, and I don't really see women who choose to wear it as cosplay or whatever if they like it is inherently creepy or anti-feminist. Would depend on context really. In this case, I'd prefer they avoid the whole thing entirely. I don't know, maybe it's because it's been done to death in so many different franchises, but I'm pleasantly surprised when a story avoids the "Female character appears in revealing outfit for no reason" thing, or any other blatant attempts to sexualize the character. A female character does not need to have a moment of objectification. Goodness knows most male characters don't really have that happen, either. I like the direction they've gone with Rey. She kicks butt, she saves the day, and she just so happens to be a woman. I'd like there to be more female leads like that, and I'd hate to see a promising character get tarnished in the name of cheap fanservice. Not to go too far off-topic with this, but this is exactly what Nintendo did to Samus Aran over the years. She went from bikini shots as Easter eggs for beating the Metroid games in certain conditions to Zero Suit Samus with gratuitous T&A shots which really cheapened the mystique of the character.

Um, do you remember the marketing strategy for Episode 7 by any chance? We didn't have a teaser trailer this early either. And they were incredibly mum about the plot and spoilers and anything for a long time. The last 2-3 months were chock full of info and news, but even then you could know very little if you put your blinders up and ignored a lot of it. I'd even say at this point of its production we know more Rogue One than we knew about Episode 7. Plus Episode 7 is still out, and I'd reckon they don't want complete overload on the fanbase yet. I figure we'll have something in time for TFA's Blu-Ray release.

The Force Awakens.
It's almost as if 'The Phantom Menace' never happened. Thank you for giving me my childhood back, JJ Abrams.

I didn't really like it I thought it was okay I don't think it was going to be what I wanted though. I would've liked more of a struggle for power after the defeat of the Empire and seeing who the First Order comes to power out of the ashes of The Empire. Then the flip side would be the rebels/ The republic trying to make things stable and get things working to some set of normalcy after the Empire's seeming defeat.

I believe this is the first instance of us starting right where we left off without any passage of time

I believe this is the first instance of us starting right where we left off without any passage of time The opening scroll is going to be one or two sentences. "DID YOU SEE 'THE FORCE AWAKENS'? YEAH, YOU'RE ALL CAUGHT UP..."
