Yeah, if anything this gives Bioware even more freedom in future SWTOR storylines since they don't even have to worry about conflicting with other EU/Legends material.
Of course, Bioware is also supposedly working on a new (and thus canon) Star Wars game but no clue if it will bring the KOTOR era into true canon or set during the movie era or another part of the chronology entirely.

Not to say they are also working on the fourth installment of their space epic saga that will be a prequel. Everybody can begin to fear now.

Ooh, hopefully we'll finally get to see Manny Bothans brought to cinematic life............ ;p I want Mon Mothma (the original actress is still working) to be in this movie and before she provides the good guys with crucial information, she says, "Unfortunately, and it seems this is a pattern, we lost a great many Bothans in order to obtain this information. There's so few of them left! Anyway, let's not forget that as we go forward with our plans. Okay, here's what we know..."

Alan Dean Foster is writing the novelization of TFA. He is, of course, the uncredited ghostwriter of the original novelization back in 1977, and author of the 1st spin off SW book Splinter of the Mind's Eye. Splinter was pretty good, but the novel for A New Hope was kinda horrible. I'm kinda leary about the novel now. Guess I'll have to wait and fiND out.

He wrote a prequel book in 2002 or so - The Approaching Storm. I was phasing out of the novels at that point so I never read it, and I don't recall the reactions to it from the audience...

Bothans were in Shadows of the Empire. Has that also been ruled non-canon?

Out of everything I saw this weekend I think I'm most excited for season two of Rebels. Don't get me wrong, I loved the TFA trailer, & can't wait for December 18. But seeing what's in store for Rebels after just finishing up TCW has me believing Dave Filoni is a frigging genius! I enjoyed TCW a lot more than I thought I would, & really got into Rebels more & more as each week past by. Honestly, I think a big part of the hype I'm feeling towards if is because of the timeline. I'm really interested in the time period between ROTS & ANH. There is so much there they can work with. I'm actually going to get started on reading Son Of Dathomir some time this week, & also plan on reading the other three(?) new comics that came out as well. That brings me to **** If you read the very last post I made, you'll see this where I left off when I heard the news that Doug Buffone, one of my hero's for several different reasons, passed away. Doug is also the reason the dog you always see in my avatar is named Chuck. I get that doesn't make sense on it's own, but I explained it better in the last post I was talking about.**** Anyway, I was going to mention Rogue One. While I'm not really sure what I'm seeing in the teaser video, the things I've seen written about it sound cool as hell. This, again, should fill in some major gaps between the two trilogies. Looks like we're going to be in for one hell of a ride over the next several years. In fact, I was actually just talking about this with the wife last night. Between the next several years of what's on tap for the Star Wars franchise, the prospects the Cubs have coming up to the big's, & the core group of NXT wrestlers moving up to the WWE main roster, I'm going to be on a dopamine overload!

I put the poor quality of A New Hope's novelisation down to ADF likely taking it as a paycheque and not really making much of an effort. Remember, at the time he wrote it the movie was still a year out from release and few people had any inkling that it would become the phenomena that it did.

Wasn't the original novelization based on Lucas' script before the actors started to point out how terrible and unnatural his dialouge sounded?

Wasn't the original novelization based on Lucas' script before the actors started to point out how terrible and unnatural his dialouge sounded? Indeed. It was released in November '76, and written about the same time the movie started filming (May '76), and was based on the original script rather than the shooting script. It differs from the movie in a number of ways:

Yes, Bothans were actually in a lot of games. I wish Shadows was in continuity, Disney could make it as an animated movie You and me both. Easily the best EU entry after the Thrawn trilogy.

I was a huge Dash Rendar mark as a kid.
If it makes you feel any better, the Falleen at least still exist for sure, as well as the Chiss.
