I have heard the argument that Bryan should be a full time main w enter based solely on how over he is, but last night he couldn't even beat his tag partner in the Raw poll to face Punk. Has his overness been exaggerated around here?

Yesterday the poll was purposely rigged though(and they let us know that) for the sake of a political joke. Like I'm not even going "conspiracy WWE" because I think they generally don't rig twitter polls, but yesterday's poll was rigged on purpose and they were very open about it.

To be fair, Kane's always a popular choice among marks, as they can view it as "OMG Kane's totally going to destroy CM Punk", even though we know better.

When Bryan was getting beat up by the Shield they weren't chanting for him to make his own comeback or really reacted that much for him running in, they were chanting for Ryback. The casuals don't seem to have any faith in him as a genuine star.

Has his overness been exaggerated around here? Bryan won the actual poll, beating out a guy who has been in WWE for over a decade: hashtagbattle.com/#battle/w/%23WWEBryan/%23WWEKaneThe story right now is that Bryan is the lil brother to Kane' Big Bro in a tag team for comedy's sake, so it's more about personality (something MANY people believed would cause Daniel to fail in WWE). Should WWE decide to actual use him as main event, fans will likely embrace him based on how he's still over despite being booked to be relatively weak.

The casuals don't seem to have any faith in him as a genuine star. The entire storyline since Summer Slam has been Ryback vs Punk with the Shield interfering, so of course the fans will chant for Ryback when the Shield's beating Bryan down. They didn't chant for the Rock, John Cena, Randy Orton or Undertaker but that doesn't mean they're not over - it just means they're not a part of the storyline.

I agree. A rigged WWE poll proves that he's not over with fans.

He's so over that WWE have done their best to stop 'Yes!' chants by having Bryan scream 'No!' and have Michael Cole explain the chant is there to mock him. Simply because he got himself more over than golden boy #2 Sheamus. They've stuck him in ridiculous angles that he's made work due to his charisma.

they need to be careful as his overness may not last, the longer they make him a losing buffoon of zack/santino levels the less over he becomes

I don't have a problem with them messing with the poll in this particular case, but I do call into question just how jobbery he has been lately. Not that he needs to be making the world tap out while half of a tag team, but he doesn't really seem to be protected much lately which is strange to me.
It probably doesn't matter though. I think Team Hell No is winding down and Bryan's one of those people that can just get one good win to start a storyline and have it erase any jobbing he did recently.

I thought it was kind of silly to include a rigged poll, but at least it was funny and Rey/Bryan was a good match. I wonder how many fans realized the poll was rigged, though.

I just watched my DVR'd RAW and legit thought Kane had won until reading this thread.
It didn't seem like such a shock Kane won, I figured that most people just wanted to see Kane job to Punk instead of Bryan (but thought it was weird how they specifically mentioned WWEBryan was trending on Twitter).

If it went the way people wanted it to - it was fair. If it didn't - it's rigged.
Them's the rules. Always and forever. If it went the other way I suspect people would be starting, or at least agreeing with a 'Proof Bryan is over!' thread pointing out the poll results.

No. Most of the prior polls have had the trending people win. This is the first time someone was trending and DIDNT win the poll. It's not about the choices as much as it is the circumstance.

the fact that so few people seem to have gotten the dumb joke they tried to tell is just evidence that they never should have done it in the first place

That's not proof of anything. By account of the fact you said 'most' establishes that it was hardly a concrete pattern.

I think they need to be careful jobbing him out but not for the usual reasons, there's been a few occasions recently when the energy has (temporarily) drained from a crowd once Bryan was defeated. It was most noticeable in the Raw from England.
