With the news that the Money In The Bank PPV has been axed in preparation for it's supposed return to WrestleMania this year, I thought it would be fun to ask a few questions in relation to it.
1. Who would you have had in the match? With there being no MITB at WM27, a lot of guys were either shoehorned into matches that didn't need them, or bumped off the card completely. If we repeat the 10 man entry from WM26, this would be my 10...
RAW:
Sheamus (United States Champion)
Daniel Bryan
John Morrison
Dolph Ziggler
Evan Bourne
Mark Henry
SmackDown:
Wade Barrett (Intercontinental Champion)
Kofi Kingston
Kane
Drew McIntyre
As a result, some of the existing matches would be changed. The US Championship match that was axed to dark match status between Sheamus and Bryan never gets booked. The 6 person mixed tag featuring Morrison and Ziggler gets reduced to a straight Diva tag match between LayCool and Trish Stratus/Snooki. The 8 man tag that featured Kofi, Barrett and Kane gets changed to a 6 man tag between Big Show/Santino Marella/Vladimir Kozlov (who never gets written out at Axxess for Kofi) and Ezekiel Jackson/Heath Slater/Justin Gabriel. That would also be the match that may have been the likely candidate for dark match status, depending on whether or not they still start the show with the long Rock promo.
2. Would it have made the overall reception to WM27 any better? A lot of us would agree that various factors led to a somewhat disappointing WrestleMania last year. While the lack of a MITB match wouldn't necessarily be one of them, they never failed to deliver a fun match. In my scenario, guys like Bryan, Sheamus, Morrison, Ziggler, Kofi and Barrett would get a better chance to showcase themselves than they did, so the criticisms in relation to them may lessened, plus guys like Bourne, Henry and McIntyre (who had just come off a breakout performance at Elimination Chamber) get a better WM payday. It may not make the rest of the card better, but it would have been another positive to talk about.
3. Depending on your winner, how would it have affected booking over the next year? One of the big sticking points for MITB holders is how they're booked in preparation for their cash in. With my winner of the match being Barrett, I would largely book him the same as he has been in the last 9 or so months, with the exception of making him look a bit more stronger in dropping the IC title to Zeke.
So what say you, FAN people?
