I'd probably say 2002. Although 2010 was masterfully booked in a way they never really pulled off before. It worked like a three act play. First you had Punk who was entertaining and cut a promo during the match. Then you had Michaels and his quest to win so he could face Undertaker. Finally you had the returning Edge come and win it all. Just great booking in what was not a particularly great year for wrestling.

2008. A lot of top stars; great surprising entrants; HBK and Taker starting it off; Cena's return was phenomenal. The match was pure entertainment from beginning to end.

I wouldn't say 2010 was a bad year for wrestling!

Whole PPV or Royal Rumble Match? If match, then 2010, for all the reasons laid out by KAMALARAMBO; if whole PPV, then 2004, which was a pretty good PPV before the Rumble match even took place.

For the match itself? 2002. Goldust's surprise return, The whole Undertaker Saga with Matt and Jeff reuniting to beat the crap out of him, Maven and the Dropkick, Mr. Perfect lasting 15 minutes and going toe to toe with Austin...

2002 saw the return of Goldust, Val Venis and Mr. freaking Perfect (who somehow made it to the final four).
It also had the ultimate upset (Maven eliminating Undertaker) and The Hurricane attempting a double chokeslam and Austin and HHH.

2007 for the brilliant Cena-Umaga last man standing match and a damn good Rumble with the epic Taker-Shawn finish.
2008 was a lot of fun too. A lot of big stars in the Rumble match, Cena’s surprise return and being in MSG just always gives shows a bigger feel.

Hard to pick between 2004 and 2008, but I've got to pick 2008 for obvious reasons.

There really hasn't been too many really good one's in the last 10 years. The best in my opinon are 92 and 01. In this time time frame I would probaly say 2004 as it told a good story with Benoit having to win from #1. Big Show also did a good job at the end as the unstoppable monster. I remember thinking at the beginning of the match that Big Show had no chance to win since he was a heel and the two champs at the time were heel (Lesnar, Triple H), but they booked him so strong in the match that I was actually thinking that he might win.
Here's how I would order them
1. 2004 2. 2007-Good field of a guys and an awesome finish with Taker and Shawn at the end. Good booking to have them as the last two as it was really hard to predict who was going to win. 3. 2003-Very underrated. Was entertaining all the way through and for the most part was booked well. The only problem was it had a predictable outcome. Lesnar and maybe Taker were the only likely winners. 4. 2005-Entertaining match with a good winner choice in Batista, who was a real hot character the fans were getting behind at the time 5. 2008-Solid match. I hated Cena winning, but it was really suprising and was memorable moment. 6. 2011-Solid Rumble with a good winner choice in Del Rio. It was refreshing to see someone other then the usual guys win it for a change. The beginning and ending stages of the match were good, but the whole middle portion with all the Hornswoggle crap and the boring seeminglessly never ending Nexus beatdows really dragged it down. 7. 2000-Solid Rumble with a predictable outcome, as nobody other then Rock had a chance. 8. 2002-Entertaining Rumble, although I didn't care for all the super quick eliminations as you guys like Booker T and RVD getting tossed in a minute and made to look like jobbers. 9. 2009-Not horrible just kind of boring with too many guys in the ring at once throughout the whole match. 10. 1998-See 2009. Probaly the most predictable winner in the history of the match. 11. 2006-Boring match with a lame winner. I know they wanted to push Mysterio at the time because of Eddie, but couldn't they at least just had win with a later number. Instead they had to force feed him down everyone's throats by having him unrealistically win with #2. He also didn't do anything his whole time in except lay around on the mat, until he had to eliminate someone. 12. 2010-Incredibly lazily booked Rumble that totally buried their talented midcard. I know I complained about 2009 having too many guys in the ring, but this was way too much the other way. Other then the posterboys of the company (Cena, HBK, HHH, Edge, Punk), pretty much everybody in the match was tossed in less then two minutes and made to look like total jobbers. By the time #30 came out, there was only three guys in ring. It was like the match was planned like five minutes before it started,so they just everybody "aah....... just go out hit a couple of your big moves and then you will get tossed a minute later.

What was so great about 2008? I'm not asking to be snarky, rather because I have a terrible memory and can only remember Cena's suprise return and Michael Buffer.

Genuinely shocked no one voted 2007.
Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker - just like any time they're on screen together - stole the show. Fantastic Rumble match overall with Flair and Finlay, Khali destroying everyone and the last 10 or so minutes. One of my favourite Rumbles.

2008 was the last time something truly surprised me in the WWE - there was no way in hell ANYONE thought Cena was coming back, we all thought he'd be out until SummerSlam.

I loved 2011. We had the Nexus vs. Corre storyline (which I enjoyed immensely), surprise returns from Booker T and Diesel, and the awesome Santino tease. All of that totally made me forget about the Cena and Hornswoggle part.

2005, followed by 2011. 2011 only doesn't get the spot because of that awful, awful New Nexus part that just dragged on for ages.
