I never knew whether that lady who was involved in that Rick Rude angle was indeed his wife or some woman they picked up off the street. Well, the DVD revealed she was his real wife, Cheryl. Well, there's something I noticed about the angle watching the DVD a few times:
Did Cheryl seem really uncomfortable doing that whole angle or is it just me?

I remember watching this as a kid. MAN Rude had great heat and it was a great build up. I believed in kayfabe then so I honestly felt like Jake was going to KILL Rude for messing with his wife.

I was just relieved to recently hear that Rude was wearing a thong during the angle when Jake tore off his tights. For years I was tortured of the thought of Rude's parts flapping around infront of a capacity crowd. Nightmare over.

I remember that. I also remember thanking God for the black box. There was a black box wasnt it?

I remember a black box. Sadly I also know enough not to totally trust my memory.

It was a black dot actually....Which sorta sounds like I'm saying that Rude was tiny down there so um it was a black circle.

I wondered the same thing revelations, even watching it right now I thought he was in his B-Day suit with nothing but his boots on, thank goodness. Still a great angle though, Jake and Rude had great chemistry together.

That they did....don't see that too often anymore. Rude, IMO, was another victim of Hogan's popularity, as he would have been a kick ass heel champ, and would have gotten the belt, had Hogan not been so damned over at the time. Very underappreciated, the Ravishing One was....

Watching that DVD reminded me on how great Rick Rude was. Just watch the Cheryl Roberts segment, he was absolute gold on the mike. In the ring, he could take bumps, he could do top rope moves, and he was strong. It's a shame he never did get a run as world champion.

A damn shame, in my opinion.
On the DVD, there's a spot with Jake talking about how he was supposed to punk out Hogan at a TV taping, and the crowd actually CHEERED the heel Snake for DDT-ing the Hulkster, which meant that the segment never saw the light of day.
I can only imagine the heat that a Jake vs. Rude WWF title feud would have had. It could have been the next Flair/Steamboat.

Very underappreciated, the Ravishing One was.... Actually, from my understanding Rude was scheduled to beat Warrior for the title at Summerslam, and then plans changed during Rude's contract renegotiations. Hell, Heenan said that he and Rude had even taped some interviews with the belt before things went south fr the ravishing one.

I wish that Hogan/Roberts segment would have been on the Roberts DVD. That would have been awesome. Just to get a little off-track for a moment, it shows you just how popular he was when fans were turning against Hogan to cheer for him. Also, the one PPV he headlined for WCW drew one of the highest buyrates in the company's history. I think it was only surpassed by Starcade 97. Say whatever you will about Jake but he had a strange appeal about him.
Rude did get a great 14-month run with the WCW U.S. title at least.

Yeah, it was cool to see Rude destroy young Eric for the US title. That made him even more over, but as a psuedo-face.

Was there heat between Rude and Hogan? I always wondered why they never had a feud.

The rumor I heard was that Hogan was legitimately scared of Rude. Supposedly he lost his temper with Ed Leslie and knocked him out with an open-handed slap. Don't ask for sources, I don't remember them. Take this rumor with a grain of salt.

Hee hee hee....Just imagining that scenario in my mind. Rude pimp slapping Beefcake, and the Huckster running off like the preverbial scalded dog.

Cheryll probably looked uncomfortable because according to the DVD she was scooping vomit out of Jake's mouth almost every night so he wouldn't die in his sleep. As far as Hogan and Rude not fighting, I think it was just bad timing because of when Rude got there. He was in the ring with Hogan at the first SS, I doubt Hogan was scared of Rude.

Like I said, don't immediately trust the rumor.
