This has been very noticeable over the years assuming you watched the actual matches when they happened or have/had them on a dvd release. But im watching the KOTR dvd and the RVD/Lesnar match is on then there's a cut to the crowd and silence. So I have this match on my computer and watch the intro only to see that where the cut is they mention that the KOTR is brought to you by Snickers. I had wondered this because I watched The Rock/Undertaker match on the same disc and wondered why the super soaker blimp had super soaker blurred out.
So yeah...... any answers?

Basically it's like free advertising for Snickers all over again.
I have a friend who works at Sirius and part of his job putting together old shows to air is cutting out old advertising. They paid for the ad time then, not now, so they have to cut it out.

Maybe the sponsors no longer want to be associated with WWE and have said they don't want to be mentioned. Although I would guess most companies would love extra advertising that they don't have to pay for and it would save WWE time when editing the DVDs.

Didn't they leave a lot of the shilling in the New Generation Era? I feel like I remember sitting through WAY too mmany Karate Fighter Tournaments.

The advertising contracts probably have a specific start and end date, and a manner and medium in which the brand name is to be used. They also might have language about "we're the only candy bar you can promote between x dates, or on x show". So when the contract is up, the safest thing to do is always clear that brand out of whatever you're putting out. It's no big deal if you miss one or two, but it's the better practice.

probably depends on the individual contracts, of both the old and current sponsors.

If WWE network DOES show old episodes of RAW, i wonder how they'll handle the guest host era in that case, since it involves celebs shilling their (then current) projects (bob barker was shilling his book, jeremy piven was shilling the goods, etc).
