Let's say you were in charge of WWE, and could make one change to make things more old school.
What would you do in that regard?
Personally, I'd make all title matches two out of three falls unless they're a special stipulation like Steel Cage, Hell in a Cell, etc. Makes it more of an effort to get the title, IMO.
What about you?

More TV time for everyone. Get everyone over, so that the big stars like Cena can be saved for special occasions like Hogan was in his time.

A new logo
They need something along the lines of the old chrome block logo, but with "E" instead of "F"

I'd have more matches between guys who are on different points on the roster. Instead of CM Punk vs another main eventer/upper midcarder he's faced 1000s of times before, do something like CM Punk vs Tyson Kidd. But in an actual competitive match.
That way you make matches between the main event guys feel more special and give the lower card guys time to shine.

Yeah, I would cut the roster in half and only have one 2-hour show per week. Quality over quantity.

I always find lower card guys vs main eventer matches to be a lot of fun. Like the Ryder vs Cena match from a few weeks ago and whenever Bourne faced Sheamus on Raw.

Ryder Vs. Cena was a damn good match, too.
Made me want to see more of them down the line.

I'd get rid of the annual "gimmick match PPV theme." ie. Elimination Chamber, TLC, MITB, Bragging Rights, Hell in a Cell, etc...
Give the events a regular name. And feature those gimmick matches on the cards when the storyline calls for it.
Like Elimination Chamber, BR, & TLC/MITB matches usually require a lot of talent. So it makes it seem like the WWE is reaching to fill out the match card, and it waters the match down. Where a match with less participants allows the story to be told better & flow.

Save the big main events for PPVs only. Keep the top stars away from each other. Focus more on the low-mid card on free TV. The WWE has made it so that 75% of their roster are branded LOSERS, which is why the crowds we get today as so damn quiet.

The days of everyone appearing on every show as much as possible are done. I would have it where you'd get a Cena one week, a Punk the next, an Orton after that, a Sheamus the week after and basically cycle through that way. Every show would be devoted to getting over one guy in particular. Sure, I'd have other matches on the show, but a majority of them would be between lower card talents or squash matches. I'd still have a big main event though, perhaps something like an Intercontinental, United States, or even Tag Team title defense. Make those mean something again.
I'd still include video packages highlighting top feuds in the company every week with occasional angles every now and then, but definitely not having them every week. Less is more after all. I really don't need to see stuff like the babyface beat up a heel one week only for them to get beaten up by the heel the very next week.
Yeah, at first the ratings will take a hit, but that's fine. This isn't the Monday Night Wars anymore so it doesn't matter as much whether the show pulls a 3.0, a 3.5, or even in something in the high 2 range. Some weeks will just do better than others. There's no point in trying to have a blow away show every week, especially when you're trying to sell people on pay per views.
And just to entice the people to attend live every show would still end with a dark match main event featuring big names.

I'd let the wrestlers have more say in their own promos, let them go off script and do something creative. They might as well be wearing suits with how much they supposedly go by the book.

Sadly, though I prefer that cage as well, I can think of a few reasons why they don't go back to it. 1)It's easier during-show to set up the cage type that they use now. 2)For the performers, the body can take getting thrown into a cage like they use now better than those solid bars.

Yeah, I can see that. I remember Foley saying that at Summerslam '97, when Chyna had slammed the door against his head, it had been one of the more unbearable pains he'd experienced. On the other hand, I would think it would be easier for guys to climb/execute moves from.

Strangely enough, I'd focus more on the way the show is filmed/shot. Every time I watch old school WWF matches, I always love how far back the camera is and the angles that they shoot from. Today they shoot too tightly on the ring, I want them to pull back, it creates an effect similar to actually being in the arena and somehow makes things feel more epic and legitimate. It's kind of hard to describe and it's a weird choice, but that's how I feel.

I would just give the lower mid carder some more times and I would let the wrestlers do their own promos unscripted and longer matches

I'd make the setups more colorful. I'm tired of seeing black and red/blue, so I'd replace the black mats outside the ring with the old-school blue ones and have the red, white, and blue ropes. The backstage sets would be ones like these:

Mix up the matches during RAWs and SDs. Like Junkenstein mentioned, CM Punk vs Tyson Kidd is a good example. Justin Gabriel vs Miz, Yoshi Tatsu vs Wade Barrett, etc and make then really competitive. And when Teddy Long gets involved to make a tag match, mix those up too, like say Orton/Usos vs Barrett/Epico/Primo.
Also, give up gimmick PPVs and save the gimmick matches to 1 )be feud enders and 2) Make those matches a big deal.
