This whole idea kind of hinges on the WWE actively courting the internet community.
In a bit of a throwback to the original Undertaker/Kane feud, Kane refuses to have a match with John Cena. He doesn’t verbally refuse, it’s just that every time Cena demands a match, Kane brutally attacks him. The whole while Kane continues to tell Cena to just embrace the hate.
After a few weeks (months?) of this, Cena comes out and says that if he can’t have Kane in a match, he’ll go for the next best thing and challenges the Undertaker to a match. Cena says that he knows the Undertaker is here. Hell, even the internet knows that the Undertaker is there (news having been leaked ahead of time). Cena says that we can just skip all the games and tells the Deadman to get out to the ring.
After a few moments, the lights go out. A few moments more, *gong* ‘Taker’s music hits. Everything’s Deadman style. Smoke, fog, lightning, druids. The only thing that’s missing is ‘Taker. The lights come back up and Cena looks annoyed in the ring. He says that if ‘Taker is going to play it this way, then Cena will just go and get him. He runs up the ramp.
A moment later, Cena comes back out, pushing a frail-looking bald Undertaker in a wheelchair with a panicked looking Michelle McCool in tow. Michelle begs Cena to stop and Cena says that the Undertaker is really “rollin’” now.
Cena tosses ‘Taker into the ring. Unthinkably, Taker begs off. Cena lifts him up and delivers the Attitude Adjustment while mouthing “Eff-You.” The commentators don’t know what to say.
Lights go out. BANG! PYRO! It’s Kane. Kane stands at the top of the stage, silent, and adjusts his glove to signify that Cena’s got his match.
It writes 'Taker out of Mania '29 and allows him an entire year to heal up for a match with Cena at Wrestlemania 30.

I was with you. I really was, until I read this: A moment later, Cena comes back out, pushing a frail-looking bald Undertaker in a wheelchair with a panicked looking Michelle McCool in tow. Michelle begs Cena to stop and Cena says that the Undertaker is really “rollin’” now.

Wouldn't that effectively make Kane vs Cena a heel vs heel match? Why would anyone care about that match then?
Who would the fans cheer for in that match if they both had a role in the treatment of The Undertaker? Why would Undertaker come back bald? Why would then even acknowledge Michelle when Undertaker is known for wanting his character to keep kayfabe?
And after all that, why would anyone care to see Undertaker get his revenge when the last time he was seen, he was in that kind of shape?

It would be pretty hard to destroy Taker's character, but that would be a pretty good segment to try and do so!

I was with ya till the wheelchair undertaker thing... that was kinda weak. Im all for blending the lines, but no reason to erase them...

Alright, seeing some blow-back to the bald/wheelchair Undertaker thing. That's fair enough.
Although, if the reports (and pictures) of Taker having shaved his head are accurate, there's not much I can do about it...
So how about if Taker comes out, looking to be in less than perfect shape. Worse than the shape he was in after Kane messed him up the last time. Cena goes on to pick him apart (if he's actually bald/has a crew cut, Cena could rip the wig off of him. The commentators could sell that Undertaker wasn't fully recovered from his match with HHH (and maybe even mention that he was still scheduled for a few more months of rehab).
There are plenty of fans who would LOVE to see Heel vs Heel matches. Especially if one of the heels is somebody they like watching. If two guys have awesome chemistry in the ring, their face/heel status shouldn't be the be-all/end-all.

I actually feel like something like that would effectively turn Cena heel while turning Kane face.
But I don't see the point in completely ruining Taker in the process. The ends do not justify the means.

The ends do not justify the means. I think that would depend on the follow-up. Kane wouldn't necessarily turn face because of that (although, is he technically a heel now?) He could say that he didn't grant Cena a match because he wanted revenge for 'Taker, but because Cena has finally started to embrace the hate. Let me also suggest that Taker won't be ruined. He'll come back, as popular as ever, for that one last match to attempt to go 20-0 at Wrestlemania 30.

Why would rehabbing from the HHH match have caused his hair to fall out? Just to be clear, this isn't my version of the "burn clothes and absorb powers" thing. There were some pictures of Taker recently that showed him with either very short hair or bald altogether. While he'd probably be able to get hair extensions before making his return (if he wanted to, anyway), if WWE wanted to use his current short hair as part of the storyline, that'd be a way to do it. As the exactly why he did it (beyond the obvious "long hair is a pain in the ass"), they could say he had some kind of brain surgery or something stemming from that HHH Tombstone. Reaching? You bet. More reaching than "Original Zombie Wrestler?" Not so much...

Yeah but why the wheel chair. Yes he was carted off but he wasn't unable to move his legs. I doubt after this long since this match. He still can't walk. Hell he there in the picture standing. If he's really bald so what. Doesn't need to be explained. Just like how Kane went from bold to long hair in a matter of three months. When everyone knows that really not possible.
Why make Taker look weak when this whole time he said he comeback for a Mania match anway.
