Nonsense,Cole is bringining in droves of fans who long to hear him scream at those internet darlings punk and bryan,I hear word the meer inclusion of cles name on the bill generated an extra 5 million in gate sales. The real problem is this booking for the internet trend,They need to stop making guys only the internet ever cared about or ever will care about champions and go back to the stable formula of established top guys that have had 3 reigns behind them. IMO this is the only way wwe can hope to get back to 7.0+ ratings. {Spoiler}This is satire {Spoiler}

But this guy in front of us was a deranged Michael Cole mark. He seriously was screaming MICH-AEL CO-LE over and over and over all night. Whether it was when Punk was getting huge cheers (which they conviently had him enter the ring at 7:55 so they'd die down by the opener) or when Lawler's dead mother was brought up (and the guy cheered ), he was as annoying as Cole.

[satire off mode] One of the golden ruls of wrestling is that everyone(if only featured once) has at least one fan,Moving on I would love to gloat but the reality here is Cole alone isn't responsible for the waning ratings,No one person is,That includes everyone from cena to tyler reks. The real issue is for a very long time wwe conditioned the fans to accept that he medocre product is all they deserve and will get,With no competition the bar is never raised. You may be saying "But wait they did do something different but the fans arn't impressed" true,However lets rewind the clock back to when Nitro was bought,How did that end? When the Nexus debuted how did that end? When Punk "left" the wwe and came back how did that angle(sort of) end? In each case(punk's being a bit of a weird situation) wwe killed the hottest thing going,Each time cementing in the fact that what we like or don't like doesn't matter,We need to just sit and watch and shut up. After so long that becomes the mindset so when something like what we have now happens people anticipate the inevitable death of it. Offtopic but related: WWE also has over exposed itself(gigity) with what is it 16 ppvs a year? It leaves no time to really build any decent feuds or angles.

I will say this about our good friend Michael Cole: He's actually fairly tolerable as a heel when he isn't shouting at the top of his lungs about the people he hates. When he's just calling the match and articulating his problems with what a face does in a calm, thoughtful manner, he's actually not that bad IMO.

As long as he's at the booth, it will still suck, no matter how toned down

Here's what they need to do. Note, this isn't my idea...found this on another forum, love it so much that I feel like it should be shared.
==
Have him in the middle of one of his little rants at the announce table and just have Daniel Bryan come out all pissed off, drag him into the centre of the ring and just kick the living shit out of him, put him in the Labelle lock and refuse to let go. Get several refs or agents to have to come in and prise him off Cole, then give him some mic time to be all bad ass about why he did what he did - he was tired of Cole mocking those who've worked so hard to do well in the WWE and mocking the business he loves, so he did something about it.
If anyone has a problem with it, come see him. Drop the mic and walk off. Cole is off for several months and returns as a manager with a new talent to take Bryan out for what he did to him. Instant face heat for Bryan, make him look badass in how vicious he is, and get Cole into a role where his annoyance isn't spread throughout the entirety of the show.

I wouldn't wait several months, I would say maybe one month, and have him come in a neck-brace. This would be a great idea, though. Only problem is... Who would be in Cole's stable? The only feasible candidates, IMO: McGillicutty, Heath Slater, Johnny Curtis, Tyler Reks, Curt Hawkins... Perhaps have Christian for some star power?

It was funny for awhile, but seriously the guy was yelling MICH-AEL CO-LE in the same way, all night. I'm talking all the way through a NXT, Superstars, Raw, and SD, and a dark match. Even when the damn Rock was out there and when there was a confrontation between HBK, HHH, and Taker. I can still hear his voice yelling for Michael Cole in my nightmares.

Somebody like Big Show or Brodus Clay would be perfect.

But if Cole tunes it down or leaves commentary, I'll have a hard time fast forwarding through 75% of the shows like I do now.... I can't spend that much time actually WATCHING the show.

Cole was fine when CM Punk was doing commentary with him and Lawler. Actually Punk was pretty great at commentary, I honestly would have been happy if he just stayed a commentator because he made the shows much more watchable.

So I was just watching Smackdown...
And you know what I realized?
Booker T and Michael Cole play off of each other really well.
Booker T should be permanently on the Raw commentary booth. I remember thinking he was horrible at first, but he has made quite an improvement and really come into his own wacky style. He doesn't quite bring the ring expertise that one would expect from a former World Champion, but he adds flavor to the conversation.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I really do think that the "problem with Cole" is actually Jerry Lawler's lack of enthusiasm. For somebody who is supposed to be a "color commentator", he's pretty damn dull these days.

Have somebody out there next to Cole besides just Lawler, and things suddenly get a whole lot better.

Cole just shouldn't be doing both PBP and Heel!Color Commentating. Both Punk and Josh Matthews picked up the slack when Cole went into heel mode because they would call moves.
