A source told ESPN's Buster Olney that Andy Pettitte (ankle) will likely be out two months.

First at bat all year after coming back from injury, Chase Utley hits a home run for the Phils. Welcome back!

Good News: Utley has a monster first night back, and in general our offensive production has been pretty darn good as of late.
Bad News: Our bullpen sucks ass, so we lost tonight 11-7.

From the people who brought you "Fat Josh Beckett Hits the Links" comes "Clay Buchholz Leaves the Hospital and Goes to a Pool Party at a Casino".
According to former New England Patriots quarterback and current 98.5 The Sports Hub radio host Scott Zolak, Clay Buchholz was spotted at a Stolichnaya-sponsored pool party at the MGM Foxwoods casino in Connecticut. Buchholz was released from intensive care at Massachusetts General Hospital yesterday after bouts of gastrointestinal bleeding and was placed on the 15-day disabled list due to esophagitis. He did not travel to Seattle with the team.
If this turns out to be accurate, then it suddenly makes a day of golf for Fat Josh Beckett seem like a lazy walk in the park on a quiet afternoon.

I guess we're all kind of numb to terrible calls in baseball anymore because I didn't notice a whole lot of complaining about the ump's call in the Yanks-Indians game when Wise clearly doesn't catch the ball AND THE FAN IS HOLDING UP THE BALL.
Most bad calls I can usually sympathize with, because I myself do some umpiring as a part time job (High School and USSSA baseball). It's a tough job, tougher than anyone can imagine.
That being said...the first thing, literally THE FIRST THING, I was taught about umpiring was "make them show you the ball."
Every tag and every close catch I never, ever, ever, ever, ever make an out call until I see the ball still in their hand. For that reason I can forgive the similar call in the Pittsburgh-KC game a few weeks back, because the fielder just duped the ump.
This call however? Completely and utterly unforgivable.

Omar Vizquel is NOT a HOFer So I guess you think Omar Vizquel shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame?

Hey, umpires...next time you f*** the Tribe, at least kiss them or pull their hair a little.

Jayson Stark of ESPN.com was told by two American League clubs that the Phillies have made Jim Thome available to AL teams that need a designated hitter. What was the point of him even signing with the Phillies anyway? He can barely stand, let alone play defense. They wasted a roster spot on a pinch hitter who can't run?

White Sox making it interesting against the Yankees in the 9th.
Rapada had one of the more impressive airmails on a sure double play ball.

Girardi shenanigans.
I don't think I need to explain the advantages of having your best reliever start an inning rather than inherit a 1st and 3rd situation with no outs. Robertson is damn good but he ain't no Mariano Rivera.

And here's Addison Reed to make it even more interesting.

As good as Girardi usually is at managing the bullpen, this was one of those nights where he overmanaged when he was already short a closer in Soriano. I have no idea why he went into mixing and matching mode instead of trusting the inning to Robertson. It's not like they were blowing out the White Sox.
Granted if Rapada wasn't a complete dumbass Robertson would've come in with empty bases and two outs instead of first and third with 0 outs.
