One difference between Friends and HIMYM is that Mosby and crew tend to be at work more than the other guys. Hell, a good chunk of HIMYM's plots have revolved around the characters' careers.

If you write things generally and stretch enough things, you could probably connect Saved by the Bell to The Dark Knight.

I really need to stop coming into threads about things I like because every time I see someone hating on my favorite things (in this case Community and Scrubs), I immediately start to look at those peoples' posts with disdain.
Which is totally not the appropriate reaction to have about someone elses' opinion.

If you write things generally and stretch enough things, you could probably connect Saved by the Bell to The Dark Knight. Both feature a preppy protagonist who fawns over some brunette chick. The way Screech bungles Zack's plans, he's clearly an agent of chaos like The Joker. ;D

I don't know I'd say Friends does that as well, for example: .Monica's constantly changing culinary positions of employment. From roller disco waitress to head chef in New York. .Chandler from office worker, doing something none of the friends remember, to heading a team up and having to commute to Tulsa. .Ross from studying palaeontology at the Museum to Professor at the university. .Joey's acting career is probably the most prevalent throughout, with him go through crappy jobs (a cut part on Law and Order, Being a 'Butt' double and that movie he drove out to the desert to find out it had already ended etc) to his steady job on Days of Our Lives that creates many storylines. .Phoebe is a masseuse which gets some storylines much later on .Rachael starts off working in Central Perk and then moves to have that office fling storyline and then always gets mentioned being promoted up through Ralph Lauren.

I may have been a bit hard on Scrubs, Seasons 1 - 3 & 8 were really good but Seasons 4 - 7 were horrid

'Scrubs' at its funniest is so far and away ahead of 'Community' at its peak that it's not even in sight. However, 'Scrubs' at its lowest points is also substantially worse than 'Community' at its worst, which is saying a lot, because a good majority of last season of 'Community' was among the worst television I've ever had the misfortune of watching. But I'd take a 'Community' season three marathon before being subjected to the final two seasons of 'Scrubs'. Hold on there. The actual last season of Scrubs (not the stupid intern show) was damn good, and improved a hell of a lot on seasons 4-7. The show seemed to be turning around quite a bit... then... Interns... And Community is far and away my favorite sitcom on television. It has no peers... Scrubs was good for what it was, but I will forever hate the character JD for what he eventually became. If there's one thing Scrubs did better, Zack Braff's selection of music is incredible. Community is great... but the soundtrack to the show was incredible.
