Basing a game off "Heart of Darkness" ends up with a particular amazing story accompanied with basic Third Person Shooter action. It's one of those games that is almost a head-slap of "Dude, why hasn't anyone else thought of this?" with the character progression throughout. Beyond that, it presents you with a "Do I want to keep playing this?" feeling, not because it has glitches or broken gameplay, but because it is hitting your moral compass with sledgehammer-like force. And if you do go the entire game, you'll be experiencing the worst possible scenario a game can put you through...and it's absolutely astounding. I recently listened to a "Spoilercast" over on Gamespot with the writer of the game. He dropped shocking revelations that makes the game worthy of a second playthrough. Great stuff. Anyone played through it? Apologies if I missed a thread.

I skipped it because I didn't like the other Spec Ops games.
If it was different than those, and actually good, then they maybe should have just called it something else.

Honestly, it's not really that great as a game (3/5 is a common review) It's as generic as it comes until kicking things up to mind-screw 11 for the last part. In fact, the writer for it claims they were wanting as many tropes as possible because they were using them to reflect back onto the story at hand. It's just one of those games where if you really get into stories, it can mess with you...and I really get into stories. Also, I found the continuous character progression throughout it interesting. Also, the mutliplayer is just a hot mess of bad in my eyes.

I may get it when it's 12 bucks at Gamestop or something then. I can look past a bland game if it's got a good story.
