As if Punk's reign wasn't unremarkable enough... He'll get to add 6 weeks (give or take) without having to defend at all. Just padding that resume. Don't worry: he'll still cut lame shoot promos on people. First up: Dr Andrews.

I'm glad WWE will be protecting Punk. As much as I loathed Cena's 380 day reign, I hated that they vacated the title, especially when he was back in two months. You can protect and hide the injury instead of damaging the integrity of the title reign that you've spent over a year building up.
Seriously though... is 380 the magic number of days before the weight of wearing the spinner belt causes one's body to fall apart? Obviously, the Winged Eagle is more beneficial to their health.

To be fair, Shawn Michaels hardly did anything between the Rumble and Wrestlemania during his last WWF title reign. That doesn't make his reign any less impressive, and most people were okay with how things went down.

I love Punk and love his reign. Glad they appear to be keeping the strap on him

Wade Keller on Twitter: Completely Unfounded Conspiracy Theory of Day: Punk pulled from PPV for calling 3 hr Raws dismal. Has optional knee surgery as cover story. So they punish Punk by......keeping him as WWE champion in a record-setting title reign? That makes a ton of sense.

I'm glad WWE will be protecting Punk. As much as I loathed Cena's 380 day reign, I hated that they vacated the title, especially when he was back in two months. You can protect and hide the injury instead of damaging the integrity of the title reign that you've spent over a year building up. I think this needs to be echoed, because I'm of the same thought. At this point, it's less about Punk and more about "who will be the one to knock him off"? If you're giving up that opportunity, you're giving up a HUGE opportunity. That is one thing I absolutely hated about Cena's 380 day reign, despite the fact I actually loved most of it. Even having Cena lose in squash injury form to Orton would have been HUGE for Orton. Instead, Cena is allowed to keep his integrity intact by giving up the belt and going away, forcing Orton and Triple H to build a program from scratch. Not only that, but it was a pretty damn weak program, which saw the title change twice (or three times depending on how you want to look at it) in one night. Whatever your feelings are about long title reigns, any time you feel that vacating the title is the best option (provided the wrestler isn't life threateningly injured or dead), then you're not in the business of wanting to make the next guy in line look good. I can only think of maybe 3 vacated title reigns in the entire history of watching that served any purpose, and all three were kayfabe; 1988, 1991 and 1998. Whoever finally beats Punk has to do it on a grand scale. Not Raw or some house show. It has to be on PPV, preferably one of the bigger PPVs. It doesn't matter if he holds the belt for a few more weeks, it would do little good to have Ryback, Cena or Ziggler beat him now, only to drop the belt to Rock at the Rumble, who will probably drop the belt to Cena at Mania. Whoever wins has to use that momentum to make it to Wrestlemania. At this point, I don't care who it is, as long as they don't make the title look like crap along the way.

So no DQ option? That's kind of lame. Given that, it's pretty obvious that HellNoBack will be winning. I'd rather have a huge brawl, personally.

A TLC match where you can only win by pinfall or submission... That kind of makes the ladders part kind of pointless, doesn't it?

Punk needs to buy the Rock a beer, him agreeing to that match at the Rumble has added an unbelievable amount of time to Punks run as champion.

Everything is scripted. I lovbe t whent he talk on the baord turns seious and people think it's a shame if his title reign ends this way. It is all scripted. Always. It could have ended any day and could also be vacated and he comes back ready to reclaim. That's why you have guys like Cena (used to be HHH) hanging around. In case someone gets hurt then you pass it back to a legitimate champ-caliber guy.

I still think Punk's holding the belt until he retires (or at least Quits the E), and nobody ever beats him for it.
They even let him walk out with the belt and tell everyone (including the fans) to kiss his ass.
Then they finally bring in the new belt.

So basically, Ryback is getting the annual "first week of the year" championship match on Raw. Previous "1st of the year" WWE title matches include Zigz vs Punk and Miz vs. Morrison.

"But see... there's a problem with that. For there to be a ladder match, there has to be a championship on the line, and no one in this match is putting titles on the line......"
What I'm getting at is, this match is going to be for Dolph Ziggler's Money in the Bank briefcase.
