It has taken a staggering £94 million in just under six weeks. Avatar was the previous record holder but it took eleven months to do that and of course, it was in 3D, so that pushed up the gross. It has also now taken nearly $900 million worldwide. Could Skyfall break the £100 million barrier here? And could it be the next film to enter the Billion dollar club? www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=35926

What a fantastic achievement. It's nice to see that a British film is our highest grossing film and not Avatar (the success of which still baffles me).
Anyway, Skyfall absolutely deserves it, by far the best Bond film and one of my favourite films in general.

Hooray! Skyfall is the film of the year for me and to see it displace the incredibly average Avatar is a good thing. Good to see the British public has good taste....for once.

Kind of a great way to cap off the first 50 years.
