So, in watching videos for the new belt pack DLC that got released for WWE 13, I noticed that they included the WCW Hardcore Championship. Except, they really didn't. This is the Hardcore Championship Not the most attractive belt, but there it is. However, the version they included in the game and the version you can buy a replica of is this Now it's possible I could be wrong, because even though I did watch WCW back then, I was young so I didn't really pay attention to the stories so much as the wrestlers - and the Hardcore belt wasn't featured too awful much from what I remember - but they never used the version that they sell, correct? If I am correct, I was just wondering if anybody knew of why they did this. I didn't know if there was some backstory, because you can buy any other belt as it actually existed - save for this one.

^That second belt actually looks pretty nice, and I wish it DID exist.
That version of the belt looks like the perfect symbol of people breaking their bodies in all kinds of twisted ways to achieve glory and prestige.
The real belt looks like an ECW belt.

Would've been better if they made the Backyard Championship DLC.

I'm pretty certain the second one never existed. I have no idea where it came from though.

I think Meng was the first to have it, part way through his run when he barely made appearances but when he left they gave the belt to Barbarian and it was never seen again.

No, Meng only held the same belt 7 days and then left. The switch between him and Barbarian from all accounts never actually happened, and if it did doesn't matter because the belt was never seen again anyway.

Alright got my time off but I know it was used because I remember the graphic showing this title on WCW TV and was on some WCW merch toward the end. I think Meng to Barbarian thing happened at an indie event and was literally Meng giving him the title (not a match) but WCW never recognized it.

I guess no one should've been surprised that WCW was stupid enough to put one of their belts on a guy who had no contract, allowing the WWF to sign him and make him a surprise entrant for the 2001 Royal Rumble.

They may not have been able to sign Meng at that point, knowing how bad they were bleeding money at that point.

If I recall, the second one was the one that they had commissioned to have made. They weren't happy with it, so they went with an alternate source for the ECW homage belt. The second one was never used on WCW television.
If I had to guess, I'd say WCW never officially owned the design of the ECW homage, so WWE just sells replicas of the original-but-unused one.

That... kind of makes sense. I'm not doubting your information, but I'm trying to figure out how in the world they thought the first belt was better than the second one - as, to me, the second one blows it out of the water. I mean, it's hardly an important belt, but still, that first one's backyard wrestling ugly.

The first, and only ring used WCW Hardcore belt was, made by Joe Marshall(the maker of WCW/WWE belts from 1997-2010) but it was a fan created design, so J-Mar and WCW never got the rights to it, so when replicas were made, the version in the WWE 13 DLC was created.

This but the replicas/the version in wwe 13 was going to be the design for the hardcore championship but instead J-Mar uses a fan created design from a contest he held for the actually belt.

The one in WWE '13 was clearly created by Triple H, just look at the sideplates.

Is this the second title? No, that's the last version of the WCW Tag Team title belt. The Outsiders debuted them in 1997. When the Steiners beat Hall and Syxx (who subbed for Nash) in October '97, they got the old belts while Hall and Nash kept the new ones and claimed to still be champions. In Feb. 1998, the Outsiders beat the Steiners to "unfiy" the two sets of belts, and the old ones were retired in favor of the ones seen in the picture.
