Possibly the most famous Indian musician of all-time and a massive influence on George Harrison. He was the father of Norah Jones and Anoushka Shankar. Never really knew much of his work but his influence is undeniable. RIP www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-20690632

One of the greats. RIP. Had no idea he was Norah Jones' father. Same here, I had no clue. RIP - I didn't know much of his work, but you can't deny his influence on modern music.

One of the greats. RIP. Had no idea he was Norah Jones' father. From what I understand, they were never close. Not surprising, given a famous musician father, I suppose.

I'll mostly know him from The Simpsons as a guest on an old Krusty episode. But still, this is sad.

I remember him as the man that helped influence The Beatles' sound in the mid 60s, especially on George. RIP.

"And now, what you've been waitin' for, another long raga by Ravi Shanker."
"Shankar."
"Shankar. Groovy, man."
Such a tragic loss, though.

I had the chance to go see him a year or two ago but passed on it due to the price of the tickets. I've really kicked myself since. Did the same thing last time Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney came through
Oh well... I just have to stop being so cheap.

I saw him in concert when I was in high school. My friend was a huge Beatles fan and she wanted to see him in concert. RIP Ravi.
