Well, he's not The Miz or AJ, so he's got that going for him.

A guy wants to be the best at what he does. Shocking. "Just another wallaby."

Whilst it's great to have that attitude, I don't think Cena shoud exactly be scared of Ryback surpassing him.

I like Ryback in his current role, but god, I hope they don't try to push him THAT hard. Ryback as "Face of WWE" would be awful, the dude is the definition of one-dimensional. Which, like I said, in his current role as "wrecking machine who gives no f***s" is great, but the times they've tried to have him go beyond that and cut promos were...not good.

I agree that he shouldn't be pushed that hard, but Ryback is actually a decent talker. He's not going to be going out to the ring and cutting 15-20 minute promos, but I think he could do short backstage interviews and be amazing at it. Cut back on the food references and he'd be fine. I actually think if they gave Ryback some of the personality he showed as Skip Sheffield circa NXT Season 1, he might be face of the company material.

Yeah, I don't hate the guy, but thankfully I'm pretty sure he's never going to actually be the face of the company.
Good for him for having ambition, though.

Precisely. In the late 1980s, Ultimate Warrior was being groomed as the heir apparent to Hulk Hogan. He was literally passed the torch at WrestleMania VI, the seminal moment when the WWF said, "Okay, THIS is the new face of the company!" and when given the opportunity, he dropped the ball, the WWF Championship was back around Hulk Hogan's waist within a year and Warrior was out of the company within 18 months. Granted, a lot of that had to do with what occurred behind-the-scenes, but when the company tried to push the Ultimate Warrior as the new Hogan, it struggled to succeed. Hulk Hogan was still the face of the company, whether he had the belt around his waist or not and Warrior was perpetually seen as 1a. Ryback seems like he's got his head screwed on a lot tighter than Warrior did, but I agree that when he was given a live mic and the chance to prove himself a few weeks ago, it was pretty darn bad. I understand that the company is pushing Ryback as this unstoppable monster, but after a clean loss or two, he's going to have to rely on something else other than "ARRIVE. SHELLSHOCK. FEED ME MORE." As annoying as his character is and as horrible as his current storyline may be, there are at least layers to John Cena, as there were layers to Hulk Hogan. Ryback, like Warrior before him, is one-dimensional and creative will need to find some currently untapped resources within Ryback if they truly want him to be "the face of the company."

Ryback could be like Sting where he just shows up at the end of the show to take out all of the bad guys

Well... I mean, Ryback sorta does get better crowd reactions than even John Cena does these days. I don't know if he has the "look" to be the next guy though. Not a knock against him at all, but I just can't really see it right now.

I'm loving his attitude. Too many guys seem to have the "just happy to be here" attitude. That just won't do. I love guys that make it known that they're gunning for the top dog. I see Ziggler having this attitude as well and that makes for a better product, when guys are striving to be #1.

I can see him being Batista 2.0 the #2 guy who is the #1 guy when the top guy is injured or feuding with a upper midcarder in a non title feud.

Somehow I don't see Ryback having over 300 Make a Wish visits though. If I become deathly ill he's the first person I want to see.

I've argued against those who say a guy shouldn't be pushed just because he's in his 30's, but as far as Ryback being the next Cena, I think it is worth noting that when Cena was Ryback's current age he had already been a main eventer for 3 years and had his massive title reigns.

Yeah... sorry pal, but Sheamus is better than you in every way. There is one way that Ryback is better then Sheamus at. Ryback is deadly serious, where as Sheamus has recently become John Cena Jr. Though, they could mess that up with Ryback I'm sure.

Unless he can make merchandise go flying off the shelves, he's not getting close to Cena.
