From the source link: It won’t be green and yellow. It will be a different color. They (the producers) want something for the future. They want to have it more grounded and not as comic bookie. It's a comic book film!! Comic books are colourful, especially Spider-man ... Less Raven more Sin Cara. ![](http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e99/Jokerspack/Supervillains/Electro1.jpg) That to me looks awesome and would look awesome on film.

Sounds to me like what we're going to get is Spider-Man vs Black Lightning.
Forget colour or fun, just another generic boring villain vs emo kid Spider-Man

Make the green darker and the yellow less bright and drop the face mask for either tattoos or a head that gets totally covered in CGI lightning. I think people expect the general public to laugh and not accept a lot less than they actually will when going to see a Comic Book Film. Especially in the post Avengers world.

Yes but those are still changes. Electro as is in all his gaudy comic bookness lightning mask and all would be laughed at.

Changes always take place, but there is changes and then there is trying to make it not be comic bookie. From what he is saying it seems to be going down the second route, and that defeats the point of being in and watching a comic book movie.

It'd work except for the mask.
Could be worse, could be Byrne's boring ass re-design

Never really been a fan of Electro, he's another dull "elemental" villain like sandman, hydroman and molten man. I don't find the idea of him fighting Spidey interesting, I mean, really, one well aimed bolt of electricity could kill Spider-man pretty quickly. Plus his origin is lame and obvious. Doesn't make for an exciting character IMO.
Regarding the costume, you have to think why he would wear something like that. Some of the Avengers (Cap mostly) have costumes that are pretty gaudy but it's explained why they wear them in the films. I just can't imagine a tough criminal firstly thinking "Yeah, this will look good and intimidating" and then taking the time to put together something ridiculous like that.

when this was announced I knew there would be no green and yellow but just the Hollywood staple of "bad ass black dude in black leather"
then out of curiosity I went and looked up "Ultimate Electro" on Google Image and went ".......yeah, that's exactly what I expected him to look like."

It could be worse it could be the shocker instead of electro Shocker might be the odd case where the costume would look better on film than it does in comics, since his powers and outfit would be fairly easy to carry over. Electro is mocked IN-COMICS for how stupid he looks, and how poorly planned his costume was. I don't really know who should be surprised that they won't go this route, especially given it's already more of an Ultimate Spider-Man movie line.

they could always do what they did in Spectacular Spider-man and have his head get shrouded in lightning when he's angry instead of wearing a mask. Thank you Spectacular's Electro didn't look campy, but he didn't look like some Wilson's villain. I'm beyond tired of movie versions of super heroes and super villains that look like they know some that knows someone that works at Wilson's leather. I understand that things from comic books don't transfer well to live actions movies, but that isn't an excuse to sad sack costume designs.

Electro has show a pretty nasty evil streak and has been amped up enough to take on an entire Avengers team on his own.

Sure the costume would carry over but just imagine the ridicule the general audience would make of his name. But in regards to your second point a lot of Marvel movies seem to be a mashing of universes which make them pretty cool

He could still have the green and yellow leather suit. Hell honestly I thought with why the Jamie Foxx casting choice was made because he can rock colorful costumes. But meh not really looking forward to this movie as the last one. I'll probably wait till DVD is released unless I have a free ticket like how I saw the past one.

Honestly I'm still scratching my head as to why they are going with Electro to begin with. It isn't often that a B lister foe stars in the second film of a super hero film series. They usually tend to save one of the A listers for the second film.
Then again Iron Man 2 went with.....well technically they combined two lower level foes into a new foe for that film......
Makes me wonder who the third film's villain will be? Will it be an A lister or another second tier foe?
