I recently just re-watched both documentaries about ECW, and both still hold up as amazing works.
Rise and Fall is arguably the best documentary done by the WWE, and it covers a lot of different issues that went through ECW.
Forever Hardcore glosses over a few things but they IMO do a better job of explaining why ECW on TNN failed, talking about the first ppv, and the checks bouncing.
While I like both, I feel JB's is a bit more informative. As much as I live Rise and Fall, it does start to drag as they get to talking about the end of ECW. Personally, I think the issue there is that a majority of the guys who WWE had talking during the documentary weren't really there for the worst of it. Now Forever Hardcore is hurt by the fact that they can't show ECW footage.
So FAN, which was the superior (or at least your favorite) documentary on Extreme Championship Wrestling?

I own and like both, and really feel you sorta have to see both to get the 'full' story. I think I'd give the slight edge to Rise and Fall just for the superior production values, and the fact that Hardcore is primarily just a buncha sit down interviews, which while entertaining can drag a bit and/or go off into tangents that while interesting, kinda go off topic.

Forever Hardcore Platinum Edition is beyond epic. I purchased the entire, six DVD (which includes Hardcore Homecoming and Hardcore Homecoming November Reign), set for $5 (I kid you not).

Rise and Fall is a better made, more enjoyable watch that tells the story a lot better.
Forever Hardcore is more of an extended supplement for those who already know the story, but the detail they go into in regard to the huge ripple effect of what would otherwise be overlooked at minor events is an incredible watch.
Overall, Rise and Fall is superior.
I do remember fan edits of different scenes from both docs surfacing in 2008 or so that were really great, especially the parts about New Jack. I'm sure the a full-length fan edit of both docs together has potential to be great.

You need both for anything approaching the full story, but Rise and Fall is better for one reason - it has the footage. Forever Hardcore is great, but its biggest failing is using XPW footage to make up for the fact that they don't have the ECW tapes.

Rise and Fall is better. Forever Hardcore is like an appendix that's mostly useful because it covers some parts of the story (e.g. Mass Transit) that were for whatever reason glossed over in Rise and Fall.

Forever Hardcore Platinum Edition is beyond epic. I purchased the entire, six DVD (which includes Hardcore Homecoming and Hardcore Homecoming November Reign), set for $5 (I kid you not). I got a similar deal except for free. I was working at a video store and when they went out of business they loaded me up with stuff, those three were part of it. I agree that you need both to get the full story, WWE's version is revisionist while letting guys like the Dudleyz, Taz, Heyman, and the like tell their story while Forever Hardcore seemed slightly more factual and let Shane Douglas, Joey Styles, and such talk about ECW from a perspective not filtered through the WWE lens. Both are great and fascinating but the full story comes from seeing both.

Rise and Fall, absolutely. From the trailers they have posted so far, the forthcoming unauthorized one that recently finished raising money on Kickstarter already seems like it will be more thorough than Forever Hardcore, plus they had the benefit of filming some of their content when ECW was still in operation, plus more recent interviews. They have a bunch more up on this account: www.youtube.com/channel/UCcLV-GqXxZVivmwFyldMBHg?feature=watch

I liked Forever Hardcore more because of the bigger names on it. Forever Hardcore had Shane Douglas, Terry Funk, Sabu, Raven, Sandman, Tod Gordon, Joey Styles etc.
Rise and Fall of ECW only really had Heyman, Dreamer, Taz and the Dudley Boys.
