Cena and WWE are doing an amazing job of trolling the anti-Cena audience by keeping him face. WWE obviously acknowledges it, evident with Cena's "work on my heel persona" comment. It's almost beautiful how hard WWE is trolling those guys without even trying, it's honestly a work of art. All it's made me do is not care about him at all. I don't cheer him, I don't boo him, I just want him to go away. Or do something to make his character fresh in some way.

Cena's been a main eventer for 7 years. If the kids haven't already turned on him it's not gonna happen I don't think. Even a kid that was as young as 5 when he first won the WWE title is almost a teenager now. I guess I view it as a fashion where Cena's character isn't interesting or exciting enough to remain a face forever. It's not like he is Steamboat or Warrior. Maybe he doesn't need a full fledged heel turn, however, I truly think he needs to maybe do something different and become a tweener. Or maybe give his face character more of a twist/edge. Kind of what we saw when he verbally destroyed Eve.

WWE's stubborn insistence at keeping Cena as the main guy tells me the product isn't for me anymore, personally. I'll check in every now and then and follow along with what's going on, but I wouldn't really call myself a fan. I do have a lot of respect for Cena as a person, though. But, for people who insist on continuing to watch a product they seem to hate for some reason, the way they've been booking Cena the last few years is brilliant.

If the WWE has to "try" to make you hate someone then they're not doing their job. Did the WWE try to make you hate Ravishing Rick Rude? Did WCW try to make you hate Hulk Hogan when he turned? Did the WWE try to make you hate Ted DiBiase?
No, because as heels they did their jobs to perfection and you hated them because it brought that emotion out of you. Cena, for all his talent and make a wish success, his staleness doesn't make me hate him at all. Like another poster said it's just complete indifference.

I want him to retire soon, not immediately get struck down by an injury or anything, I just want him to have a nice retirement angle and be gone and for them to have to fill that huge void with something new and hopefully more interesting. Yet when he's in a match, I really do root for the other guy. It's a combination of go away heat and srs heel heat.

Cena already is a heel. The older demographic pay to see him get his ass kicked and boo him at shows. That sounds like a heel to me.
