The character is really not much of a known entity outside of comic books, but I still think he could be effective in a live acted Thor movie. His appearance is certainlt unique, so it would be interesting to see how a studio would bring him to live-and I certainly hope they would use Hellboy style animatronics instead of just pure CGI. But I also think the shock of his initial debut from the comics would be equally effective on the big screen; Bill's creator, Walt Simson, had intended to jolt the audience with the character and wrote him deliberately so that in his very first appearance it would be difficult to tell if he was a hero or a villain, and after that particular issue he recieved fanmail asking "How is this monster able to pick up Thor's hammer?" And on that note, the films have already established that only the worthy can hold Thor's hammer-but they have not exactly delved too deeply into just what makes an individual worthy, and introducing Bill could help explore that sub-plot a bit more. The only potential flaw I could really see is that, in the end, Bill is another hero, and any good super-hero movie needs a pure villain to help drive the plot. But still, would be fun to see.

I hope no one ever thinks so.
I have never, ever liked the character and simply cannot see why he seems to have so many fans.

If they are going to bring in a talking tree and a gun wielding Raccoon I think they can do Bill.

I think it'd work, but I'm not sure how they'd fit it in. Movie!Thor seems to be one of those "if it doesn't fit what we're doing we ignore it" things ala Christopher Nolan refusing to use Robin.

Easy way to get Beta Ray Bill is the way they do it in the Avenger's Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Have his ship carrying the last of his people be attacked by Surtur and go from there

Batman was created sans Robin and tons of Batman stories don't have any of the Robin incarnations. Especially when considering the tone of the movies I don't have a problem Nolan not using Robin.

neither do I, and I say that as a big Robin fan (Tim's one of my favorite superheroes). I'm just using it as a comparison is all. Robin didn't really fit what Nolan was doing and Beta Ray Bill doesn't really fit what Branagh's doing with Thor either.

Batman was created sans Robin and tons of Batman stories don't have any of the Robin incarnations. Especially when considering the tone of the movies I don't have a problem Nolan not using Robin. Robin showed up 11 months after Batman first debuted in Detective Comics. It's not like Nolan was pulling from decades of Batman lore where Robin never existed. Dick Grayson is as integral to the supporting cast as Alfred and Jim Gordon, but too many people get stuck in the "Robin is TEH GAYZORZZZ" mindset and dismiss the character, which is wrong. Marvel found a way to make Bucky work, because they knew that without him, they were removing a key part of the Captain America mythology and killing their chances to get Winter Soldier on screen. Anyway, as for Bill, I hope to god I get to see him on film at some point. As someone else already stated, they're introducing Rocket friggin' Raccoon. There's no way they're going to consider anything else too silly after that.

Beta Ray Bill/Beta Ray Thor? No. I believe that the Marvel 'movie universe' would have to lay a TON of ground-work to get an audience up to believing in an alien race that would have a hero in it that would match Thor, and that's not the kind of thing that can just happen over a montage. It's the kind of thing that comic fans can accept and roll with, because it's been happening for years.
Throg, Frog of Thunder? Hell yes! Even if Loki turns Thor into a frog in the middle of a giant battle, then we'd have 30 seconds of a frog with a battle hammer throwing lightning bolts at an army... what's not to love?
