It's a fun but insidious game. I think I like Bomberman (the boss with a sickle) the best of the bosses despite how easy he is.
My brother beat the game, as well as Ninja Gaiden 2, back in the day. I have no idea how he did that.

It's tough as hell, has lots of annoying enemies, and has the stages layed out in a way that makes me want to throw the controller through the TV.
I love it.

One of my all time favorites and definitely the game I played the most when I was younger. Those damned birds were the source of great frustration back then. ;D

One of the most difficult NES games. Just thinking about how frustrating this game is wants to make me throw a controller across the room.

It took me FOREVER to beat that game. I can remember spending hrs and hrs playing that thing as a kid. If you can beat this...you are truly a glutton for punishment. I'd dare say it's the one of the hardest if not the hardest game available for the NES.
II was even worse for me. I stayed glued to the TV for a good 6 or 7 hrs on that one at a time.

Never played it on the NES ... however I do have the Gameboy version aka Shadow Warriors. Final Boss Music was nice. Stage 3 music was beyond awesome.

Loved it, and actually played it enough that I managed to go from start to finish without losing any lives. This game was really where the video game cut scene took off as a selling point. II was even worse for me. I stayed glued to the TV for a good 6 or 7 hrs on that one at a time. Really? I thought II had a massive reduction in difficulty. I beat it on a one day rental.

Tough as nails, but very satisfying when you finally beat it. Of course, I could probably not do it today, but I did manage to beat it back in the day. Now I feel old.

One of the toughest games I've played. It isn't the toughest of the 3 Ninja Gaiden games but it's not a walk in the park. It's part of my NES library.

Rivals Silver Surfer for likely unintentionally being the toughest game of all time I should think

One of the best intros ever. Easily some of my favorite video game music right there. Come to think of it, Ninja Gaiden is one of the first games where I really got into the music.

I loved it as a kid but could only beat it with Game Genie. I still love the music and have most of it on my iTunes.

But III was way more unforgiving.
