Surprised I never thought of this sooner but both guys debuted around the same time in 2002, think Lesnar just before Batista. Was there ever any discussion that Batista could have had Lesnar's push?
I know WWE were high on him but would he have been able to do it given the chance?

Batista was green as hell when he first arrived in the WWE. Plus he initially showed next to no personality. He would have fell flat on his face if he got a Brock Lesnar push at the beginning.

I know Jim Cornette was high on him but he needed a lot of work and season to become a top player in the WWE. I think Brock is one of the few guys ever that could have thrived with that type of push.

I like both guys but Brock was then and is now light years ahead on Batista in terms of athleticism and wrestling skill. They're completely different in that respect.
I doubt Batista would have been as big a star as he was had Lesnar stuck around.

Batista himself said he was nowhere near ready for a big push so sticking him with Devon was the best thing so he could see up close and personal how everything was done

Brock was just more "ready" than Batista. As others have said, Big Dave was greener than the Grinch in 2002 and he openly admits that he sucked ass back then.

I doubt it as Brock was an athletic freak that could actually wrestle, Batista was more of a project at the time.

Batista was a reasonably talented, green big guy who had a bright future.
Brock was a freak of f***ing nature and no-one has been like him in the business before or since.
It's a no-brainer which one to push.

Brock was paid alot of money, basically WWE and WCW got in a bidding war over him so he was getting paid far more than he should have whilst he was in development, that's probably part of the reason he was given such a big push from hius debut as well as they wanted to recoup their investment a bit.

No, big Dave just wasn't that good back then. If they had given him the push it would have probably just fell flat on it's face and would have been swept under the rug when big Dave under-performed. Evolution was the best thing possible for big Daves career.

I remember when Brock was on the outs with WWE they said in a fantasy match Batista totally would win.

Isn't Sable, Batista's mom? ............... What? Yeah. During Batista's MMA fight, Lesnar walked out with him wearing a "#1 Dad" t-shirt

Yeah. During Batista's MMA fight, Lesnar walked out with him wearing a "#1 Dad" t-shirt ... not sure if serious.

Yeah. During Batista's MMA fight, Lesnar walked out with him wearing a "#1 Dad" t-shirt ... not sure if serious. It's all true. Look at Batista's entrance at his fight. Sable had him when she was 19. Brock is obviously his step dad.
