Why does everybody think a Military gimmick has to be a heel? Did you all forget Cpl. Kirchner? Or GI Bro? Or Todd Champion? Now, granted, those characters WERE wrestlecrap, but handled well, a military gimmick COULD get over as a babyface.

I think AWOL Orton is better than The Viper.

I wouldn't mind a Shellshocked war vet gimmick Could be a crazy PTSD heel or sympathetic face John Rambo in "First Blood". He just wants a chance to build a new life as a wrestler, but someone pushes him too far. YES! That would be a fantastic idea! But under NO circmstances should he ever compete in a First Blood match, because he would never win it.

I think AWOL Orton is better than The Viper. Every single one of his matches one way or another would end via a countout!

I would love to see a complicated tweener ex-military type character that's disillusioned with the USA and their global policies. Especially since many ex-military folk are like that. I don't think the gimmick would EVER work but it would be very interesting. MVP did it when he portrayed "Lord of War" in some wrestling project. I heard he pulled it off quite nicely.

I think the WWE could bring in Necro Butcher with an ex-military, currently suffering PTSD character.

Aren't The Shield kinda a military gimmick, given that they dress in paramilitary gear and their entrance theme starts with the NATO phonetic alphabet?

Oh boo hoo if people get offended. People got offended at the nation, the new hart foundation. DX, stone cold. Hell even white rapper cena was offensive. And they were all great angles.

The initial response was SWAT team, but given their tactics and phonetic alphabet titantron, they're much closer to a military strike force.

I want to see a comedic, "crazy" general who gives off the wall promos about his opponents

I still want an aggressively patriotic heel to show up and decry the company for employing all these foreign wrestlers.
Of course, he definitely shouldn't be associated with the military, because that'd be terrible press and all.

I think the bigger concern would be that the US Army is actually a huge paying sponsor of the WWE, and they have the support the troops tours and shows that give them some rare positive press. I don't think they'd ever have a military character as long as that stuff is around - maybe they could do it as a face, but it'd be a pain to make sure that every line and angle conformed with the view of the military the army would want.

Rip off Saints Row. Have a kayfabe politician representing a government agency declare war on WWE and attack it with a STAG-like commando unit, beating down wrestlers. The politician can say that WWE is the biggest wrestling company, so it's been marked out as a target first. Once WWE is obliterated, they'll attack the indies.

A good way to bring The Shield into this is to have them seem like they are working for CM Punk, but as it's revealed, they're actually working for the politician's agency.
