Not trying to sound rude, but might want to have a quick read of the rules here for stuff like that. Thanks.

Nothing sad about that, IMHO. Yes, thoughtful discussion of religion would be nice. However, religion is one of those things (along with politics) where very few conversations about it are thoughtful, especially on the internet. Even the ones that start off well enough tend to go off the rails along the way. Besides, there are plenty of places to discuss religion elsewhere. I'm fine with not having to deal with it here.

The "no politics/no religion" rule should NEVER be lifted. This site would become very nasty, very quickly.

To paraphrase a friend, "Politics and Religion are the two things you don't want to talk about in a forum"

The "no politics/no religion" rule should NEVER be lifted. This site would become very nasty, very quickly. There was only one exception made, that was during the race between McCain and Obama, during which a special thread was made and the mods pretty much had to focus all their effort on that to keep it civilized so yeah, unless there's a very important event that can't possibly be ignored, it's best to keep it the way it is.

There was also one this election.

"Sadly?" Honestly, there are people here who can't remain civil while discussing men in tights pretending to fight. There is absolutely nothing that would ever make me believe that this forum can "handle" religious and/or political discussion.

We're only allowed to talk about Jediism Sithism is better because Jediism believes in little blood fairies. Who's stupid enough to believe in blood fairies!?!?!
