Maybe the board needs a catchy slogan that will help people lighten up and have more fun on the board. Maybe something like this:
The FAN Forum: Taking the 'U' out of FUN.
Dammit! That's not how I thought it'd look in my head. Give me a sec, I'll think of something else.

But I need another 3 heel lowercarders for him to fight! At the moment, it's just the 3MB! Tensai, Curt Hawkins and David Otunga. You're welcome. Hawkins needs to turn face and be back with Ryder ASAP (should've been done the moment Reks asked for his release). If neither are going to get a serious singles push they should be helping revive the tag division. But maybe Fandango/Dirty Curty can be put on the new Wheel of Aggression.

People attempting to analyse an antiquated and arguably entirely inaccurate US ratings system, and then deciding whether the drop in the previous/current/next segment is due to a guy they dislike starring in one of those segments.
Ratings don't really matter, not unless you're part of the marketing & business side of the WWE, and even then a reduction in ratings with the additional funding from advertisement on 3 hour Raws mean WWE is in good shape.
It sounds condescending but if people attempted to stop using "RATINGS!" as a reason they dislike a guy they'd come off a lot more likeable. We're fans, a fair few guys wrestle independently, but as far as deluding one another that we know what's best FOR DIS BIDNESS with regards to financial gains & losses...it's just foolish.

Honestly if you look at the show topics like ones about Raw and Smackdown and Main Event there is a lot and I mean a lot of humor, I find quite a few things funny here its all on the person. Some of the stuff that is supposed to be funny isn't

I think it's just a trend. Something will pop up that will bring comedy gold to this forum again. It always does.

Start some threads if you don't like what you're seeing.

Everyone's just riffing on everything, marking out over tiny things, sometimes complaining but trying to make jokes while doing it, it's good fun.

All the really good photoshop people left. I still spot some of them around here and there. What killed the photoshop threads is that instead of before where there'd be one sustained thread for a good period of time, it turned into one popping up every day or so where there'd be a number on the front page then they'd only last only 2 or 3 pages before being abandoned. {Spoiler}/thread

With each passing day this board gets further away from it's original roots as part of Wrestlecrap which attracted those of us that loved mixing wrestling and comedy. I think a lot of people that have joined in the ensuing years join for more serious wrestling discussion. I agree with the OP that I miss the days that every other thread was funny. Or it could be... Not enough Mason Ryan on TV. The farther away in time, distance and point of view this is from Wrestlecrap, the better.

Yeah, this has easily become my favorite part of the WWE section of this board for months now. I already enjoyed live discussion of the weekly shows/ppvs to begin with but I now stay up for Raw sometimes just because of what is happening in the threads. I do miss the photoshop threads though

Just for the record, I'm not entirely opposed to any serious wrestling discussions, given that I participate in them often. But I don't really log on for that in particular, that's just me throwing around brain droppings while I'm modding.
Most of the enjoyment I get comes from the stupider and more random topics rather than the nonstop analysis and debates on who to push. It's ok to be interested in the business and all (I am, a little), but the mood's just disproportionatly leaning towards a lack of real fun right now.
Look at Cena, for example. I think he's great and all, but he makes the most ridiculous faces. And when he gets serious and yells, he's often funnier than when he's trying to be funny. He should be inspiring Batista levels of running gags, and I think they'd be more stimulating than the endless combing over his alleged hypocrisies and booking and what he symbolizes and yadda yadda.

I tried my hardest in the Jericho did it First photoshop thread... honest!
But anyhow... I still have fun here. Some of the arguments end up on the borderline ridiculous side of things, but I just exit the thread when necessary.

This isn't about any alleged "negativity" or anything, because from what I'm reading here, the consensus seems to be that WWE generally has a solid product, but just needs to listen to its fans a little more. With that in mind, why is every thread here lately a serious discussion on ratings, booking, heel/face dichotomys and pushes? What happened to the random fun stuff like Kane Taking A Dump, Jardu Cenesh, the basketballs or even Goord One Johrn? The running gags have dried up, and the photoshop threads have been replaced with segment breakdown talk. There was a lot of fun, crazy stuff being produced back in 2009 when most people thought the product (Raw especially) was boring at best and embarrasing at worst. So what's with the dry spell now that the sentiment seems to be a little better? It's as if there's been a total ideology shift. I know you've seen that freaky photo with Rock and the bull. There's a goldmine of potential there, and you wanna talk about his alleged homophobia? If I can be serious for a moment: I really believe that the general malaise on this board as of late has to do with the general malaise of society. Just like everywhere else in society, we tend to compare things to how they were in the late '90s and around the turn of the century. People were making money, times were good, of course there was a nice share of tumult to go around as always, but I think that as we have seen a steady downturn of the economy (in the States but it's also true for many other parts of the world), along with a really horrific 24/7 news cycle in which there's ALWAYS some sort of tragedy to beat into the ground with neverending coverage... we've become a very analytical society, bombarded with data during every waking moment. Everything is so fast-paced, mental/emotional disorders seem more common (as well the usage of psychiatric drugs). It's hard not to get numb to it all, and one of the effects is our reaction toward entertainment. It seems as though most forms of popular entertainment falls into two distinct categories: fun (yet painfully stupid and goofy) and serious (extremely heavy in tone and theme, even when peppered with comedy or other variations). Nothing is anywhere in-between. I'm not going to make the leap to say that arts and entertainment as a whole were BETTER 10-15 years ago (I think the really good stuff that shines through in a period of general disposability is made even brighter because of it), but it seemed as if conventions were being flouted a lot more for many different reasons, even if just the sake of eliciting a social backlash and hence publicity. But it seems as if Real Life has just been smacking us in the face repeatedly (especially here in the States, again) since 9/11 or so. And in a very roundabout way, I think that if you look anywhere in media (especially our robust social media), people are generally BUMMED and/or just don't give a flying... Sorry about that, but I just think that the way things are in a small international community like this can be seen as a reflection of society as a whole.
