With the new year here, I think one of the things I want to be better at is saving my money.
How about the rest of you?
How much do you manage to save a month?

I haven't been able to save anything in a couple of years now.
All my extra money goes onto my credit card or a joint line of credit.
Hoping to have both paid off by February, and then the goal is to save about $250/ month.

Jack all. Bills take the majority of my paychecks, gas takes the remainder.

Depends on the month. A minimum amount is set for me to save every month. I could go higher than that, if I don't have anything in particular I want to buy.

Depends on how caught up I am on bills

Not very much. I typically end up wiping out most of my paycheck on a weekly basis.

I guess the 100-499 range sounds right. I don't overspend on things except video games and I take the bus instead of a car so that helps. I also get profit sharing which I don't use to pay bills. They're usually between 100 to 300 a month and I got a Christmas bonus of 1000 dollars.
I like my job I feel it pays good for the amount of work I do. When I'm waiting between work orders or while I'm printing/cutting vehicle decals I spend more time on Reddit than I do at home. The best part is that I work from 8-4 instead of 8-5 and I'm taking home much more money than when I was a glass worker for more hours.

Currently I'm having about a 3rd of my paycheck put into a savings account. Part of it is for actual savings and the rest is to save up for various things like my trip to New York/Christmas which I save for every year. So about £150 per pay which is just under $300 once converted

3 people have voted for $2,000 or more. That seems like a lot. Good for them if it's true, but I'd love to hear about how you manage to put that much aside every month.

I'm making enough now that I can have a little $$ taken out of my checking account to move to savings. Out of sight, out of mind.

Rent, bills, gas, food, etc.... I'm lucky if I break even at the end of the month.

Well for the people who put over $2000 a month away I can definitely see how if they make a lot of money. I work as a pipefitter apprentice and could afford to put that away if I really budgeted. With overtime it's pretty easy. The journeyman I work with make between $150,000-$200,000 a year, it just depends on how much time they take off besides there scheduled time and if they want to work much overtime. Also this wasn't meant to come across as a post to brag about income or anything just using it as an example of how some people are able to put that kind of money away.

I'm gunning to retire before I'm 50 and all the advisers and planners say I'm going to be able to do it because of planning and self control. Thank goodness my wife had the same idea. I'm not a work-a holic. I'd rather be fishin' for decades on end than sitting in an office.

A combination of my parents living right in front of my university so I can stay at home as opposed to paying for dorms, Canadian universities being fairly cheap, scholarships and a pretty decent job. I walk to university, so no need for a car. I've got very few living costs so I save pretty much all of my money because I get an unreasonable amount of joy out of saving money. Only thing is that like, pretty much everyone I know is almost always like "OH C'MON BRO JUST BUY ____ OR WHATEVER" but I'm like, Scrooge McDuck right now because I figure I won't have any other time in my life to act like this.

I was always drilled 50/25/25 when it comes to money. 50% allocated bill funds, 25% entertainment, 25% savings. No matter how much I made I stayed within this guideline. I'm saving about $900 or so a month. My plan is to bring that up to $1200 my June, and $1400 by the end of the year. Having a 2 minute commute to work has really saved me a good bit of cash.
