How would he turn out?
At least Booker was always made to look like a main event threat and was on the upper mid card of the WWE during his run.
What if DDP had the same thing?
He feuds with Rock, goes into the tag team field for a bit, then gets a big match at Wrestlemania XIX against someone.
It seems because the WWE didn't make DDP look important, that's what killed him.
But what if they did?

He was too beaten up for it, sadly. He more or less retired the following year.

Imagine the business they could have done with DDP,
People's champion vs People's champion
Diamond cutter vs RKO
Sad how bad Vince dropped the ball with most of the WCW guys.

If he wasn't put in the lower card as WCW fodder and in the same league as Booker, he might have not gotten injured

He had the problem of debuting to soon, before it was decided it would definately be an invasion.

He was almost 50 years old and his back was giving him a lot of trouble. He wasn't really in a position to really do much. Imagine the business they could have done with DDP, People's champion vs People's champion Diamond cutter vs RKO Sad how bad Vince dropped the ball with most of the WCW guys. The RKO wasn't even a thing until a year or two after DDP retired. You can thank Bob Holly for that though, he broke Page's neck if i remember and that was what ended it for him. If he wasn't put in the lower card as WCW fodder and in the same league as Booker, he might have not gotten injured He was already hurting well before that with back problems. That's why the Taker feud was mostly tag matches so he didn't have to do too much in the ring.

Given DDP's obvious star power - he was the biggest WCW name they got in the buyout - he should have come in stronger, even if they had only put him on a limited schedule because of his injuries.

I still wish DDP and Booker switched roles in the Invasion storyline. DDP feuding with The Rock and Booker stalking Takers wife.

The dude had more shelf-life than people are saying. He wasn't THAT beat up, and he planned his matches carefully, which would have minimized damage.
They were using him right at first. That reveal was a KILLER moment. I think he'd have had a big wrestlemania match and then settled into a tag-team with Kanyon in an attempt to elevate him, which seems to be something they wanted.

He'd still get some use. I think he'd make a great GM.

If WWE used DDP now let alone then he'd be money. Imagine him managing somebody like Swagger or the 3MB, they'd skyrocket.

It did seem they were building up back up at the time to be an, at least, credible upper-mid carder, but Holly changed that.

He wasn't part of the WCW purchase. He wanted to come to the WWF, so he took a buyout of his WCW contract from Time Warner. Booker T did the same thing. In retrospect, seeing how his 2001-02 run went, DDP might have been better off just waiting out his WCW contract.

DDP should have been the face of the Alliance. Except for a few throw away matches against Kane and Undertaker, I have no memory of DDP in the Invasion.
Such a shame, he was more of a People's Champion than The Rock.

Even for a year or two, he could have been a solid star, rather than the dumb gimmicks they gave him

The problem as I saw it was that A) Vince had to prove that his product was better so Page (and none of the WCW guys) were booked strong and B) Vince had to prove that his ideas were better so he repackaged them with silly gimmicks rather than using their proven characters.

In the WWE Page with his wife Kimberly could have been booked as a latter day power couple ala Savage-Elizabeth.

Would've been cool to see DDP wrestle Stone Cold.
