Whole thing is fascinating (and sad).
Also, I like to think he was a secret spy for the government until a mission went awry and he got amnesia (life is a Hollywood movie, right?).

I think he was probably a vagrant or something like that, hence why there's no real trace of him or any family out there looking for him.

The strange thing is he seems to have a high knowledge of restaurant operation and food preparation equipment, which seems to suggest he used to work at (own?) a restaurant. Perhaps he owned one, business got bad, he asked help to the wrong kind of people he was taught a lesson. Remember he was found unconscious and injured. Also strange is that he was found naked with absolutely nothing to identify him. It's like somebody wanted to make sure he couldn't be identified. Here's a list of the few things he does remember (note how many of them seems to be related to catering, further giving credence to the theory he was in some way linked to that line of work): www.findingbenjaman.com/updates/

Him being stripped naked is such a weird aspect of the story. Like, OK, yeah, you could maybe say "Hobo who got beat up" or something, but that makes it strange. I can't think of any streetfight that ends with you stripping the other guy naked.

It's obvious he's a time traveler from the future with a terrible warning... but his time ship crashed giving him amnesia... so basically we're now doomed -_-
