Raiders LB Rolando McClain was arrested again in Decatur, Alabama upon giving a fake name when pulled over for a window tint violation.
Vernon Davis acknowledges that this has been "a tough season as far as just the feeling of being involved."

@adamschefter As @briancoz and ESPN Dallas report, Cowboys have fired DC Rob Ryan. Not a fan of that move. I thought Ryan was good, the defense just sucked because of injuries. When you lose 812 LBs and DL in the first 6 games what do you expect? Then again, Jerry and Ginger won't be taking any blame so it doesn't matter. Also, Rob Parker is gone from ESPN thanks in part to his RGIII comments. deadspin.com/5974231/rob-parker-is-out-at-espn

It's pretty sad when your fate is to be known as "the less successful Ryan brother."
I'll kinda miss Fat Kevin Nash acting like a fool on the sidelines, but then it's not like I need any more reason to hate Dallas, so uh, yeah.
Also, this is NFL Thread XXX and no bad sexual pun for the thread title? I'm disappointed.

Could see Ryan heading to the Jets....would be interesting...
I've always felt like Rex was the better DC but Rob would make a better head coach for some reason....

I can't remember a time where anyone was scared of the Cowboys D in Ryan's tenure, people usually just mention Ware and that's about it.

He took over in 2011 here are the rankings in rushing and passing and points allowed: | Rushing | Passing | Points | 2012 | 22nd | 19th | 24th | 2011 | 7th | 23rd | 16th | 2010 | 12th | 26th | 31st |
[/tbody]
2011 that defense stayed healthy (1 player on IR) and look at what he did. 2012 that same defense had 9 players, 8 being DBs/Safeties on IR and that is not counting guys like Jay Ratliff that were kept on the roster because they hoped they could return toward the end of the year. The defense was getting better but was ravaged by injuries. This to me is a bad decision because of that. Unless Jerry has a miracle in store, he just fired this teams best shot to win in 2013, IMO.

I fear for my life if Atlanta loses Sunday. There's no way I won't fall into the streets from laughing uncontrollably if they lose in the first round yet again. I don't hate them or anything, but everyone around here seem to be convinced they're Super Bowl bound.

According to the Union-Tribune San Diego, "several people around the league and inside Chargers Park" have confirmed Colts OC Bruce Arians is the Chargers' top choice to replace Norval Turner.

I get the opposite feeling elsewhere- almost everyone outside Atlanta is giving Seattle a free pass to the NFC Championship.

Monumentally dumb move by Dallas firing Rob Ryan. He'll get a job quickly.

Unless Jerry has a miracle in store, he just fired this teams best shot to win in 2013, IMO.
Lets look at those same years with a different metric. 2010 Defensive DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average): 27th overall, 20th in weighted(where games earlier in the season become gradually less important). 2011: 16th Overall, 20th in weighted. 2012: 23rd overall, 30th in weighted. So his best year they were average. They're 2012 schedule ranked 23rd in offense. And as an anecdote, I watched that entire Browns game(slow day) where he called three and four man rushes against a rookie QB that is in way over his head. I think Rob Ryan has gotten a little overrated as a defensive mind (which is funny because I think Rex is underrated). Edit: Also, I just watched the Colbert Report. If it's any consolation to Vikings fans, your punter seems like the coolest guy on the planet.

Falcons lose Saturday and Mike Smith is essentially Jim Mora Sr.

I would imagine it is, at least for another year.

I would imagine it is, at least for another year. I agree with that. I think Arthur Blank would give Smith one more year with a "win a playoff game or else" ultimatum.
