Something else is this kills the Destination X stuff built over the last two years and hurts the BFG series, IMO. Maybe those become possible Impact/Spike specials but the DX stuff won't work nearly as well, IMO.

The difference between indy shows and these TNA shows is that you can watch indy shows at your own convenience (you put on the DVDs when you want, and you can watch MP4s pretty much anywhere, even on your phone), whereas the TNA PPVs, at least legally, they force you to have to watch them at set times on the TV. People won't want to make the effort for something that's not fresh.

Taped Pay Per Views? Even at a discount, I can't imagine that being too appealing. Yeah. This new schedule doesn't bother me. The taped PPV thing does.

Well cutting down the numbers has been on the cards for ages, but down to four is a major cut. Well, four big one's and seven small taped ones. I expect the smaller one's are to make a bit of money AND to fill their contracts with the overseas tv companies (they have a LOT of international coverage these days). WWE can easily survive on its current PPV model, but TNA has always had the two problems of being a much smaller company and trying to grow in a shrinking market.

But if they keep it as a major thing on tv along with the bound for glory series it'll still mean a fair amount. It's a major cull of PPV's, but with their buyrates very low outside of the big events I can see why they've done it. On the plus side it means four big TNA PPV's in arena's that will be heavily promoted (or should be).

I'm sincerely hoping this will mean that every one of the big four PPV's will occur outside of the Impact Zone.
As for not enjoying the idea of a taped show, I do admit that I bought some of ROH's early PPV's, despite those being taped (hell, I was AT the first one, and still bought it). It's not the end of the world, though I'd like to think $10 would be a better price, and one more people would look at and say "yeah, I'll pay that" in a snap decision. Just psychologically speaking, there's a weird barrier between $10 and $15 for many people.

What happens if this new strategy doesn't go as planned? When the ppv numbers come back the same or lower? What's the backup plan then?

Maybe those become possible Impact/Spike specials but the DX stuff won't work nearly as well, IMO. what they will probably do is move the 'X Champ wrestles for a shot' match at Slammiversary instead. I dont think it hurts the BFG buildup, though. they just put some spotlight matchups on the IYH PPVs.

It's a shame they are putting more effort in the filler ppvs than they did when they were doing the 12 month schedule.

Doubt Tommy Dreamer would come in and work again since he recently appeared on WWE.

How are they going to fill 3 hour sin the KO special with how weak the KO roster is?
A couple of years ago a KO ppv would have been awesome now I'm not really interested.

Most of those ideas are fantastic, though I suppose this might mean bringing back old KO talent, like how they're bringing some former guys back for the X-Division show.
Also: WORLD X-CUP!!!

If PPV's are not generating money for TNA, then reducing the number was a no brainer. That means a lot of angles will be done for TV rather than PPV, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
