what do they do to pass the time ?
Do they have a monitor under there ? Earpiece ??
Drinks ?? I imagine it'd get pretty stuffy under there.
Any funny stories ??

I remember a story about Curt Hennig taking a dump in a bucket and putting it under the ring so Ultimate Warrior had to be down there and smell it while waiting for one of his Nitro segments (where he came up through a trap door in the ring) in 1998.

It depends, but they tend to have a monitor, at least in WWE, some snacks maybe. I could swear I've seen Hornswoggle with chips, back when he hid down there.

Yeah probably a Monitor for their cue to come out.
At worst though it's a 2 hour wait it isn't that long to just hang around and do nothing for.

They masturbate and/or meditate. Some play cards with Cheetum, the one-eyed wrestling midget.

I've always wondered if it is loud as hell under there. Like all the slam, ming on the mat being amplified

Never saw a thread like that before, good one. I sometimes wonder that to.

Thing is, they'd have to get under the ring early, right? Before the crowd has a chance to start pilfering in? Then they've got to wait out the dark matches, other TV tapings, etc... you could be under the ring for upwards of five hours.
As someone who has hidden in boxes and car trunks awaiting my prey waiting to play a delightful prank on friends, you can lose your mind. It's a bit like a sensory deprivation tank, and I'd have to imagine under the ring to feel the same way.

It's unlikely, but it could be a lot easier to do at TNA, with that raised entrance ramp. Put a tunnel through to the ring and you don't have to mess about.

I thought I read once where (in the WWE, anyway, and probably back in the WCW days) they go out there during times when the arena is blacked out, like say for a backstage segment they would be playing on the tron.
So they probably aren't out there the WHOLE show.

It's a bit like a sensory deprivation tank, and I'd have to imagine under the ring to feel the same way. You wouldn't be deprived of your sense of hearing, that's for sure! Staying under the ring for an extended period of time while matches go on would probably give you a headache, if not cause hearing damage. I hope the guys who do it wear hearing protection.

They usually have them walk down surrounded by referees during a segment where the arena is dark. I know back in the day they'd have to be there all night though. Tommy Rich went under the ring in Memphis in the afternoon with a 6 pack of beer, drank them, slept for a while, then woke up in time for his appearance in the main event cage match (coming out to help Austin Idol beat Lawler in a hair vs hair match.

I've always wondered if it is loud as hell under there. Like all the slam, ming on the mat being amplified Nikki Bella said in her shoot that she was stuck under the ring until the end of the Smackdown taping once, and the main event was Big Show vs Khali and she was scared shitless because it felt like the ring was going to collapse on top of her every time one of them took a bump.

This may be my all-time favorite rib, especially when you think of this as a metaphor for Warrior's WCW run.

That's the one I heard about. For some reason, somebody else was under there with him and Tommy had to "use the bucket" and almost stunk the other guy from out of the ring.

They usually have like 8 guys go to the ring to like fix things up so it looks like it's just a normal production crew thing but in the middle of these guys is whoever's going to hide under the ring
