Everyone knows the story about Triple H being scheduled to win King of the Ring, but getting sidetracked because of the MSG Incident. Unfortuntely, most recently, Eddie Guerrero was scheduled to win the world title, but passed away. What are some other events that were initially scheduled, but changed due to unforeseen circumstances?

I think Owen would have won the I-C title from the Godfather at Over The Edge 99. Owen's partner at the time, Jeff Jarrett ended up winning it from him after his passing the following week.

Shane Douglas was going to be the fourth member of the Radicalz, as it was just the group The Revoultion Benoit, Saturn, Malenko & Dougals, but didnt want to return to WWF after the Dean Douglas fiasco. Eddie Guerrero made the jump instead.

I had head that too, Jericholic...Wasn't that the one where Bret won the title instead?
Stupid Luger.....the one time he should have said "I DON'T KNOOOOOW!" and he goes and blabs the ending of the match.

Butch Reed scheduled to win the IC title, no-shows, title goes on Honky Tonk Man, seemingly forever.
And I think Beefcake was supposed to take the title off of Honky, but War-yah subbed for him, won the title, and went on to his 'stellar' career.

Well, of course the greatest 'what might have been ' is everything that didn't happen to Jake Roberts. He could've quite easily rivalled Flair's career, but it didn't happen.

I don't think Roberts could have rivalled Flair... he got very over, don't get me wrong, and was wonderful on the mic, but personally, I don't think he could work anywhere near as well as Flair.
I think his demons have stopped him taking the role he should be playing now, as a booker/member of a booking committee.

Man, any list like that should include Kerry Von Erich. That guy, had he not taken his life, could've been one of the all time GREATS.

Kerry was supposed to win the belt, but when he took his own life, they gave it to his brother.

One of the rumoured main events for Wrestlemania 6 (besides Hulk Hogan vs Zeus) was Hulk Hogan vs Mr. Perfect, who was supposed to win the title. Ted Dibiase was also supposed to win the title at Wrestlemania 4. This is what I heard anyway.

^That's correct, DiBiase was supposed to win the title at WM4, but Honky Tonk refused to job the I-C title to Savage on the Main Event in Feb 1988, so to prevent Savage from going crazy on Honky, Vince promised him the WWF title, of course that would mean DiBiase would get pushed to the sidelines. He mentions it a bit in his shoot interview.

One thing I didn't know until I read Death of WCW was that when WCW was initially courting Bret (before he signed the 20-year extension), it was planned that he'd lead the WCW in crushing the nWo once and for all, right before it had the chance to get too out of hand.
Also, I think WCW had eventual big plans for Lash LeRoux, as evidenced by his impressive showing in the world championship tournament. I mean, obviously, he wouldn't get the strap immediately, but it looked like he was in line for a big push, which he deserved. He was a great wrestler who was entertaining. I still don't know why Vince never gave him a real chance.

I just wonder what could've been if Waylon Mercy (Dan Spivey) didn't have the nagging injuries that forced his retirement.
