Now that Del Rio is WHC I'm more excited about the belt than I have been since D-Bry had it last year. But what are others thoughts? I see a lot of debate on here as to it's status.

A good title for upper-midcard/main event guys who the WWE doesn't really know what to do with yet. We've seen Sheamus, ADR, etc. all in the genuine main event picture before, but right now, they don't fit with the CM Punk/Cena/Rock/Ryback thing that's going on right now. It's a title of promise, that "hey, we want you around, you do good work, we're just busy with other stuff". The only person this hasn't been true of since it became the clear #2 title has been Swagger, which I still don't understand. I'm not saying Jack Swagger is main event worthy, but he's talented enough where he should still be in the IC/US title hunt.

To me the World Heavyweight Title is useless. Basically it's for the guys who are good but not good enough to be at the very top.
There's nothing wrong with a title that serves to keep the top guys semi-relevant when the WWE Title scene is crowded. But it shouldn't be called a world title. But a guy like John Cena being able to stay relevant without being in the title picture negates the need to have a second major title for this purpose. WWE needs to focus on making people matter without titles, like they're doing with Cena.

I've been saying for years now that it's basically the new IC title, it's important and will be for a long while yet but everyone recognizes it's not THE belt.

I've been saying for years now that it's basically the new IC title, it's important and will be for a long while yet but everyone recognizes it's not THE belt. It's kind of like a junior Heavyweight championship (lowercase "j" to discern it from a Jr. Heavyweight title). It's the top title of the B-show, and if you're successful, you have a shot at being champion or top contender of the A-show.
