Honestly, I have to remind myself. Despite having the same last name, Vickie has been her own character for years now

Rarely do I ever think of Eddie when I see her.

Actually the only time I've thought of Eddie when seeing her was the WrestleMania moment when she did his taunt and attempted a splash. I really wish the announcers would at least commented on it because I'm sure it was a big moment for her. Such a sweet move from such a bitch (character wise), so I understand why they didn't sell it.

Yeah, even with Eddie being one of my all time favorites, there's a disconnect there. I guess it's because I rarely saw her before his death and she's taken on such a life of her own as a character. It tends to not even register I'm watching Eddie's widow scream at people.

I started watching a little after Eddie died, so I have no real association between the two. In fact, sometimes I'll watch one of his old matches and end up surprised that this guy was married to someone I see on TV every week.
So I guess I have pretty much the exact opposite of the OP's reaction.

Yes and No.
Yes, because I feel Vickie has become her own character.
No, because I've always had the theory that in kayfabe, Vickie's character is motivated by Eddie's death. Her husband dying left her bitter and angry, and she blames the company for it. Vickie manipulates the ambitions of heel wrestlers such as Edge, Eric Escobar, Dolph Ziggler, and Jack Swagger to carry out her revenge.

This is semi-offtopic to this thread, but;
Would it be in poor taste if, if this scenario ever popped up, I were to see Vickie at some signing/convention/ and I asked her to sign Eddie's 'Cheating Death, Stealing Life' book?

Actually, I tend to forget that fact all the time... despite Eddie being my all-time favorite wrestler. Guess I gotta give her credit for coming into her own character. Same here. She's transcended Eddie (not saying she's better, which I certainly don't believe), which is a good thing.

I don't think it would be in poor taste, if you weren't doing it to troll her. I think she'd understand.
