Like? I ask because I'm trying to write this song about this guy who's always been really reserved, but he's starting to fall in love and is learning how to put his heart out there. I've got this great chord progression to it, but seeing as though I've never been in love - I'm having a hard time trying to get these lyrics sincere and not phony. So, what better way than to ask those who've been in love. What did it feel like when you realized it? Excited? Scared? Nervous? A combination of multiple feelings? Thanks in advance, guys.

I think at first it is a bit scary and exciting, and over time I think it becomes sort of comforting. Like it is just a nice feeling of contentment when you are in love and it is returned.

Do yourself a favor and only write what you know about.
If all else fails, write the worst piece of ignorant crap you can think of, find someone famous who can make you a catchy beat, and then enjoy your success as it is shoved down our throats every ten minutes.
Lastly, if love could be described accurately in words, it would have been long ago. Language - no matter its beauty - will never do it justice.

Well, the only reason I am is because I've been writing songs since '07, but I've never been good at writing songs about love. I want at least one under my belt, and this riff I came up with won't work for anything else. Even if it's just for me, I need one.

Love is...a battlefield. But, really, love is all you need.

It can be a great feeling. It's exciting, makes you happy and want to jump for joy, it makes everything in the world feel so much better....but then it can also turn you into a complete basketcase.
Losing love is also one hell of a nightmare. That can really mess with you in horrible ways.

you could always rent that doc that Ted Danson, Jason and Justine Bateman made in the 80s.

Is there something or someone in your life that you really like, a band or a video game or a family member or something, that could be considered love? If there is, try to use some of those feelings. It may be weird but it'll be something that's genuine.

As corny as it sounds - love is what happens when you put someone else first and trust they'll do the same.
If that's not happening - it's not love.
