Point is I've not missed him.

He beat Kofi Kingston, that's the midcard WWE equivalent of punching a particularly feeble child in the face and taking the candy s/he once held as Child1 lays on the pavement crying. No, no. That's beating Ryder and/or Santino(depends on whether the child has a headband or not). Beating Kofi is slightly above that and guarantees that the child equivalent would be at the very least holding on to that candy very fiercely before being destroyed. I would rate "child holding onto candy very fiercely before being destroyed" as above even Kofi and instead apply that comparison to The Miz.

Point is I've not missed him. You said he needed a new gimmick, but if all you've seen of him since his return is some old gif, how do you even know he isn't doing something new?

I'm not sure, the 2013 update has him listed as "overconfident 10 year old, designer sunglasses, holding jawbreaker, father is a personal trainer and feeds child experimental protein bars for the sake of science." Kofi is "nervous and recently stopped taking Ritalin 9 year old, holding onto the last Haribo bear as if it contains all answers to life." No one can go against the database, the World would go bonkers.

Kofi Kingston is the king of the mid-card. If you beat him you're ready. In other terms he's the mid-card gate keeper so really it's a big jump for Swagger to beat him.

Well,he's still awful on the mic and came with no change.
Seriously, why is this so hard? The only thing they had to do with Swagger was to bring him back as a face during a Cesaro promo and bam,you got yourself the perfect feud for both guys. They might still do that after Chamber, but it's pointless not to do it in the time of his return.

He's a former World Champion, you guys. A former World Champion. Srsly. He's held the World Heavyweight, ECW, and United States titles, in addition to being a MITB winner. You'd think he could at least hold a respectable position in the upper midcard with accolades like that. This push probably won't last past April, though. Also, his new look reminds me of Nation Owen.

Glad he's back, but WWE really needed to freshen him up somehow. Having him beat Kofi while acting super intense isn't enough.

Weird way to repackage him... as exactly the same as when he left.
Sometimes, people on here have better ideas than the uncreative team. Like the guy who suggested him returning as an All-American face to beat Cessaro. Perfect. I like Swagger but can't see him getting over like this.... he'll be jobbing in a few months.

I was certain they'd bring him back as a face to feud with Antonio Cesaro.

I was certain they'd bring him back as a face to feud with Antonio Cesaro. I know! He could still get there, but I'm surprised that they're apparently more concerned with a heel/face balance and filling a spot than a story that potentially could be really good going to Wrestlemania. All things concerned, Swagger did fine. I just wish it was something a bit fresher.

He's a former World Champion, you guys. A former World Champion. just because he was doesn't mean he should've been (see also Miz, Great Khali and Sheamus and Del Rio's first couple reigns).

I found it amusing that much of the reaction from both fans and guys in the ring seemed to be "Oh... its Swagger."

To make an impact, Swagger needed Paul Heyman to bring him back as a ruthless and silent monster killer, to aid SHIELD, probably at the next PPV where he would cause the faces to lose.

They needed to completely overhaul him, but instead they've brought him back as exactly the same guy...

They needed to completely overhaul him, but instead they've brought him back as exactly the same guy... THere's really nothing wrong with Swagger. He just needs a few solid matches with the right opponent to be seen as credible again. I think Swagger is another Jericho-like figure who can seamlessly work on all levels of the card.
