If you do not believe you can make it to Wrestlemania, you have no business being in American wrestling. If you don't have that drive to succeed, the will to be one of, if not the best, you don't belong in whatever field you're in.
It's great to have a goal, and you should work hard for it, but you should also observe reality and not get TOO wrapped up in it.
Nigel pursued his dreams, to the point he almost killed himself...and he ended up a depressed, damaged shell of a man. There's no great uplifting story there.
Basically, if you're a wrestler on the indie scene, you're probably going to be happier long term if you treat it as a hobby that COULD go somewhere (WWE). It could happen, but don't get too obsessed with it, otherwise it'll come at the expense of the life you have.
Have dreams, sure. But don't let them kill you.
I understand your down-to-earth point-of-view for its practicality, but I also think that it's a tough road to take if you're very serious about something. For example, I have a dream I'm working on right now. While I have many people in my life that support me, I have a good friend who mostly looks at me like I'm crazy and doesn't really believe I have a chance of making it like I imagine and becoming a success. I don't think he is doing it to be a dick, really -- that's just what he genuinely believes, and that's fine. It's my goal to prove him wrong, and in order to prove him wrong, I have to believe in my heart of my hearts that I can unquestionably be a success and make something out of myself here. I don't want to even imagine the idea of not ultimately succeeding at it because it makes my stomach turn and makes me think of my whole life as a failure. That's what ambition does to you: It's not pleasant, but it's not there to make you always feel warm about your place in the world.
