I don't really see this guy doing much because of his one dimensional persona. I mean you can only go so far with a redneck gimmick.. I bet after this year and his KOR win he will be in mid card hell and getting beat by Ahmed Johnson on the daily

He's not ready, brother. A company guy like Steve Lombardi, he's ready.

The company's already given up on him, LOL, he couldn't even get on the main card of Summerslam, and then he wasn't even on the PPV after that. He had momentum after the King of the Ring, but now they just killed the character forever. Now they'll probably do something stupid like job him to Bret Hart. Typical WWF, won't push new stars.

All he does is some punches and the stunner, and his promos are the same catchphrases over and over. His whole push is so forced and inorganic. Sure he gets pops, but that's just because he always wins.
They don't want to expose him by putting him up against a REAL star of the future like Taka Michinoku. Now that's the sort of wrestler smart, discerning fans want to see. Once Vince gives up on his big, 'roided-up brawlers (of course Austin's on steroids, just LOOK AT HIM!) and gives Taka the push he deserves, we might finally see a new boom period.

Ahmed looked good and ready to finally go to the next level when he came back from his injury. Such a shame he injured himself immediately and is expected to be back on the shelf for a while.

I still don't see the point of bringing in that guy who used to play Cactus Jack in WCW. It's not like he can be a world champion. That guy ain't putting butts in the seats.

If this is some weird attempt to compare Austin to Ryback, it doesn't work. They're totally different wrestlers, with totally different styles. Austin could actually work, for one thing. And he could cut promos. He didn't become even a bit repetitive until well into his main event run. And he had way more than one catchphrase.
And while Ryback was pretty much planned to make it big, WWE was hesitant to even put out an Austin t-shirt well into 1996 (as mentioned in Mick Foley's Have A Nice Day) as they thought Olympian Mark Henry and Wildman Marc Mero were more marketable.

Raw's ratings have been atrocious, even moreso when put up against Nitro. WCW just has all the momentum, all the stars and the nWo, the hottest angle in years. There's nowhere but up for WCW and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Fed goes belly up before Y2K

I swear to god, if they make Faarooq Asad take his blue helmet off, I am rage-quitting WWF for GOOD.

I dunno, I think if they could find the right angle for him he could get over pretty big...at least as a transitional champion.
I was fiddling with some ideas the other day about playing up his no frills look, make him kind of an every man that anybody who's ever worked a crap job can relate to. But they would have to find the perfect counterpart to make it work...the yin to his yang. And I just don't see ANYBODY on the payroll that can play that roll.
Oh well...it's a crap idea anyway. Nobody could get very over in black trunks and black boots anyway.

He can't really talk. If Ted Dibiase had stuck around and kept dong the talking for him then I think he could have been something special.
