Underrated and forgotten movie IMO...De Niro & Branagh did fantastic jobs in their roles and the movie really had a sad sense of tragedy throughout!
Whats the general opinion of this movie?

I thought Bram Stoker's Dracula was much better. De Niro as the monster seemed like such a strange choice to me. He didn't hit that role out of the park nearly as big as Gary Oldman did playing Dracula.

Seen it a few times. It has odd pacing.
Better than its reputation would suggest but not much better, is my opinion.

Third act kind of sucks with the changes they made, but the first two make for a decent adaptation of the novel. The cavern scene between Victor and the Creature is easily the best scene in the movie, largely because Branagh isn't hamming it up and De Niro delivering as always.

I agree that it's underrated. I loved it.

I'll always have bad memories associated with this movie...we had to watch it in English class and the heart ripping scene made me throw up over my desk. I was a queasy kid.
